Despedida
When Paul had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed. They all wept openly as they embraced Paul and kissed him. They were especially grieved by his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples. And after encouraging them, he said goodbye to them and left for Macedonia.
After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers in peace to return to those who had sent them.
Brothers, although we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in heart), our desire to see you face to face was even more intense.
God is my witness how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
Amizades profundas
Davi e Jônatas se despediram com lágrimas e pacto de amizade. Rute se apegou a Noemi com lealdade inabalável.
When the young man had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone, fell facedown, and bowed three times. Then he and Jonathan kissed each other and wept together — though David wept more.
And Jonathan said to David, "Go in peace, for the two of us have sworn in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘May the LORD be a witness between you and me, and between your descendants and mine forever.’" Then David got up and departed, and Jonathan went back into the city.

Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go back, each of you to your mother’s home. May the LORD show you loving devotion, as you have shown to your dead and to me. May the LORD enable each of you to find rest in the home of your new husband."
And she kissed them as they wept aloud and said, "Surely we will return with you to your people."
But Naomi replied, "Return home, my daughters. Why would you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb to become your husbands? Return home, my daughters. Go on, for I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was hope for me to have a husband tonight and to bear sons, would you wait for them to grow up? Would you refrain from having husbands? No, my daughters, it is much more bitter for me than for you, because the hand of the LORD has gone out against me."
Again they wept aloud, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.
Again they wept aloud, and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her.
Then Moses sent his father-in-law on his way, and Jethro returned to his own land.

So Joshua blessed them and sent them on their way, and they went to their homes.
Still another said, "I will follow You, Lord; but first let me bid farewell to my family."
Then Jesus declared, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
So Elisha left the oxen, ran after Elijah, and said, "Please let me kiss my father and mother goodbye, and then I will follow you."
"Go on back," Elijah replied, "for what have I done to you?"
So Elisha turned back from him, took his pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. Using the oxen’s equipment for fuel, he cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow and serve Elijah.
