O que significa dizer que Deus é amor
Dizer que "Deus é amor" significa que o amor não é apenas uma ação passageira ou um sentimento dele, mas a sua própria essência. A Bíblia não ensina que o amor é Deus — como se qualquer afeto humano definisse a divindade —, mas que Deus é amor: Ele é a origem, a medida e o padrão de todo amor verdadeiro.
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God-The Father; and every one that loves is born of God-The Father, and knows God-The Father.
He that loves not knows not God-The Father; for God-The Father is love.(1 John 4:7,8)
Whosoever shall confess that Yeshua [God is Salvation] is the Son of God-The Father, God-The Father dwells in him, and he in God-The Father.
And we have known and believed the love that God-The Father has to us. God-The Father is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God-The Father, and God-The Father in him.(1 John 4:15,16)

Como o amor de Deus se manifestou na história
O amor de Deus não ficou no campo das ideias nem em promessas abstratas: ele se tornou visível em uma pessoa e em um acontecimento histórico concreto. O ápice dessa revelação foi o envio de Jesus Cristo para resgatar a humanidade quando ela ainda não tinha nada a oferecer em troca.
Herein is love, not that we loved God-The Father, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the Propitiation (sacrifice to pay for sins against God, to satisfy His righteous anger) for our sins.(1 John 4:10)
For God-The Father so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.(John 3:16)
But God-The Father commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Moshiach [Messiah] died for us.(Romans 5:8)
But God-The Father, who is rich in mercy, for his great love which he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us together with Moshiach [Messiah], (by grace you2f are saved;)(Ephesians 2:4,5)
A fidelidade inabalável do amor de Deus
Em toda a Escritura, o amor de Deus se revela como leal e constante. No Antigo Testamento, essa fidelidade à aliança sustenta o povo mesmo em tempos de fraqueza, oferecendo perdão, refúgio e comunhão para quem o busca.
But youi, O Lord-Adonai [Greatest Above All Things], [are] a God-El [a God] full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.(Tehillim - Psalms 86:15)
How excellent [is] youri lovingkindness, O God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of youri wings.(Tehillim - Psalms 36:7)
Because youri lovingkindness [is] better than life, my lips shall praise youi.(Tehillim - Psalms 63:3)
O give thanks unto the LORD-Yehōvah [Messiah Pre-Incarnate]; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] forever.(Tehillim - Psalms 136:1)
Who [is] a God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] like unto youi, that pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retains not his anger forever, because he delights [in] mercy.(Micah 7:18)
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God-The Father of love and peace shall be with you.(2 Corinthians 13:11)
