Deus nos chamou antes da fundação do mundo. Ele nos conhece pelo nome, nos predestinou para sermos conforme a imagem de Cristo e nos capacita para o chamado.
Chamados por Deus
Os que Deus predestinou, também os chamou. O Seu chamado é irrevogável — fundamentado no propósito eterno e na graça abundante.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.
So don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me his prisoner. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God. He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. This has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while.
I chose you before I formed you in the womb;
I set you apart before you were born.
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
A resposta ao chamado
Ninguém pode vir a mim se o Pai não o atrair. Deus escolheu os fracos para confundir os fortes — e nos chamou para a luz.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me drawshim, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
Confirmando o chamado
Procurai tornar cada vez mais firme a vossa vocação. Deus começou a boa obra e a completará até o dia de Cristo.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election, because if you do these things you will never stumble. For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.
I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
