O pai que educa
Instrui a criança no caminho em que deve andar. O pai justo educa com amor, firmeza e o exemplo de uma vida íntegra.
Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
He who spares the rod hates his son,
but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.
The righteous man walks with integrity;
blessed are his children after him.
The father of a righteous man will greatly rejoice,
and he who fathers a wise son will delight in him.
He who fears the LORD is secure in confidence,
and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Honra e alegria
Honra a teu pai e tua mãe. Os filhos são herança do Senhor, e a família que serve a Deus junta é inabalável.
Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD,
and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
so are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
He will not be put to shame
when he confronts the enemies at the gate.
But if it is unpleasing in your sight to serve the LORD, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!"
Concluding Exhortations
Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still in the distance, his father saw him and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
The son declared, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.WH includes Make me like one of your hired servants; see verse 19.’
But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let us feast and celebrate.
