1 God is our refuge and strength,

a helper who is always found

in times of trouble.  *

2 Therefore we will not be afraid,

though the earth trembles

and the mountains topple

into the depths of the seas,  *

3 though its water roars and foams

and the mountains quake with its turmoil.  *Selah

2 I will say  * concerning the  Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress,

my God in whom I trust:  *

8 Trust in him at all times, you people;

pour out your hearts before him.

God is our refuge.  *Selah

9 The Lord is a refuge for the persecuted,

a refuge in times of trouble.  *

10 Those who know your name trust in you

because you have not abandoned

those who seek you, Lord.  *

9 You rule the raging sea;

when its waves surge, you still them.  *

4 Greater than the roar of a huge torrent —

the mighty breakers of the sea —

the Lord on high is majestic.  *

29 He stilled the storm to a whisper,

and the waves of the sea were hushed.  *

35 Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Can affliction  * or distress or persecution  * or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

Because of you

we are being put to death all day long;*

we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.*,*

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors  * through him who loved us.  *38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,  * nor angels nor rulers,  * nor things present nor things to come,  * nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God  * that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.  *

16 The flour jar did not become empty, and the oil jug did not run dry, according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through  * Elijah.

39 He spread a cloud as a covering

and gave a fire to light up the night.  *

40 They asked, and he brought quail

and satisfied them with bread from heaven.  *

41 He opened a rock, and water gushed out;

it flowed like a stream in the desert.  *

25 I have been young and now I am old,

yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned

or his children begging for bread.  *

18 The Lord watches over the blameless all their days,

and their inheritance will last forever.  *

19 They will not be disgraced in times of adversity;

they will be satisfied in days of hunger.  *

3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land

and streams on the dry ground;

I will pour out my Spirit  * on your descendants

and my blessing on your offspring.

4 For you have been a stronghold for the poor person,

a stronghold for the needy  * in his distress,

a refuge from storms and a shade from heat.  *

When the breath of the violent

is like a storm against a wall,

6 and there will be a shelter for shade from heat by day and a refuge and shelter from storm and rain.  *

2 When you pass through the waters,  *

I will be with you,  *

and the rivers will not overwhelm you.

When you walk through the fire,  *

you will not be scorched,

and the flame will not burn you.

8 We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; 9 we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.

7 The Lord is good,

a stronghold in a day of distress;

he cares for those who take refuge  * in him.

8 He wraps up the water in his clouds,

yet the clouds do not burst beneath its weight.  *

9 He obscures the view of his throne,

spreading his cloud over it.

10 He laid out the horizon on the surface of the waters  *

at the boundary between light and darkness.

21 You will be safe from slander  *

and not fear destruction when it comes.  *

26 He said to them, "Why are you afraid, you of little faith? " Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea,  * and there was a great calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey  * him! "

30 If that’s how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won’t he do much more for you — you of little faith?*31 So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear? ’

6 The woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God,  * to be nourished there  * for 1,260 days.  *

19 Look, I have given you the authority*to trample*on snakes*and scorpions*and over all the power of the enemy;*nothing at all will harm you.*
