God Provides for and Protects His People

1 God is our refuge and strength,

a very sufficient help in troubles.

2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth change,

and though the mountains totter into the midst* of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam,

though mountains shake with its surging water. Selah

2 I will say to Yahweh, "You are my refuge and my fortress,

my God in whom I trust."

8 Trust him at all times, O people;

pour out before him your heart.

God is a refuge for us. Selah

9 And Yahweh will be a stronghold for the oppressed,

a stronghold in times of distress.

10 And those who know your name will trust in you,

for you do not forsake those who seek you, O Yahweh.

9 You are ruling the surging of the sea.

When its waves rise, you yourself still* them.

4 Mightier than the rumblings of many waters,

mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea,

Yahweh on high is mighty.

29 He made the storm be still

and their waves became calm.

35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will affliction or distress or persecution or hunger or lack of sufficient clothing or danger or the sword? 36 Just as it is written,

"On account of you we are being put to death the whole day long;

we are considered as sheep for slaughter."*

37 No, but in all these things we prevail completely through the one who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

16 The jar of flour was not emptied and the jug of olive oil did not run out, according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke by the hand of Elijah.

39 He spread out a cloud for a covering,

and fire to give light at night.

40 They* asked, and he brought quail,

and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41 He opened the rock and waters flowed;

they coursed* through the dry places like a river.

25 I was a youth, but I am now old;

yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken

or his children begging for* bread.

18 Yahweh knows the days of the blameless,

and their inheritance will be forever.

19 They will not be put to shame in distressing times,*

and in the days of famine they will be satisfied.

3 For I will pour out water on a thirsty land

and streams on dry ground.

I will pour my spirit out on your descendants*

and my blessing on your offspring.

4 For you have been a refuge to the poor,

a refuge to the needy in his distress,

a shelter from the rainstorm,

a shade from the heat.

For the breath of the ruthless was like a rainstorm against a wall,*

6 and it will be a shelter for shade from the heat by day,

and a refuge and a hiding place from rainstorm and from rain.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,

and through the rivers, they shall not flow over you.

When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned,

and the flame shall not scorch* you.

8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed;

7 Yahweh is good—a refuge in the day of distress;

he knows those who take refuge in him.

8 He ties up the water in its clouds,

and the cloud is not torn open beneath it.*

9 He covers the face of the full moon;*

he spreads his cloud over it.

10 He has described a circle* on the face of the water

between light and darkness.*

21 From the scourge of the tongue you shall be hidden,

and you shall not be afraid of* destruction when it comes.

26 And he said to them, "Why are you fearful, you of little faith?" Then he got up and* rebuked the winds and the sea and there was a great calm. 27 And the men were astonished, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?"

30 But if God dresses the grass of the field in this way, although it* is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not do so much more for you, you of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?,’

6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared there by God, so that they could feed her there for one thousand two hundred sixty days.

19 Behold, I have given you the authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will ever harm you.
