As dívidas podem escravizar, mas a Bíblia nos ensina princípios de sabedoria financeira: não se endividar imprudentemente, pagar o que se deve e confiar em Deus como provedor.
O devedor é servo do credor
O rico domina sobre o pobre, e o que toma emprestado é servo do que empresta. A Bíblia convida à liberdade financeira.
The rich rule the poor, and borrowers are slaves to their lenders.
Don’t hold back good from those who deserve it when it’s something you have the power to do.
Wealth gained by fraud quickly disappears, but those who gather bit by bit prosper.
No one can serve two masters. Either you’ll hate one and love the other, or you’ll be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Money.
Princípios financeiros
Pagai a todos o que lhes é devido. Deus promete que o justo não será desamparado e que a bênção virá sobre os obedientes.
Pay whatever you owe: taxes to the tax authorities, fees to the fee-collectors; give respect to those who should be respected, honor those who should be honored.
Don’t owe anybody anything, except love for one another—for those who love their neighbor have kept the law.
The wicked borrow, but don’t repay; while those who do right give generously.
If you planned to build a tower, wouldn’t you first work out how much it would cost, and see if you had enough money to complete it?
Give to anyone who asks you. If someone takes something from you, don’t ask for it back.
Forgive our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
Contentamento
Seja o vosso viver sem ganância, contentando-vos com o que tendes. O Senhor é suficiente — não nos desamparará.
Don’t love money; be content with what you have. God himself has said, "I’ll never let you down; I’ll never give up on you."
The Lord your God is going to bless you as he promised. You will lend money to many nations but you won’t need to borrow from any of them; you will rule over many nations but you won’t be ruled by them.
