11 The people here were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, since they received the word with eagerness and examined  * the Scriptures  * daily to see if these things were so.

15 Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.  *

15 and you know that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures,  * which are able to give you wisdom for salvation  * through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God  *,* and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.  *

13 Until I come,  * give your attention to public reading, exhortation, and teaching.

8 This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth;  * you are to meditate on  * it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.  *

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?

when I learn your righteous judgments.

9 He began the journey from Babylon on the first day of the first month  * and arrived in Jerusalem on the first day of the fifth month  * since the gracious hand of his God was on him.  *10 Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the Lord, obey it, and teach  * its statutes and ordinances in Israel.

18 When he is seated on his royal throne, he is to write a copy of this instruction for himself on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. 19 It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear  * the Lord his God, to observe all the words of this instruction, and to do these statutes. 20 Then his heart will not be exalted above his countrymen, he will not turn from this command to the right or the left, and he and his sons will continue reigning many years  * in Israel.

1 The proverbs of Solomon  * son of David, king of Israel:

2 For learning wisdom and discipline;

for understanding insightful sayings;

3 for receiving prudent instruction

in righteousness, justice, and integrity;  *

4 for teaching shrewdness to the inexperienced,  *,*

knowledge and discretion  * to a young man —

5 let a wise person listen and increase learning,  *

and let a discerning person obtain guidance —

6 for understanding a proverb or a parable,  *

the words of the wise, and their riddles.  *

1 My son, don’t forget my teaching,

but let your heart keep my commands;  *

2 for they will bring you

many days, a full life,  *,* and well-being.  *

13 Hold on to instruction; don’t let go.  *

Guard it, for it is your life.

23 For a command is a lamp, teaching is a light,  *

and corrective discipline is the way to life.  *

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.  *

Because you have rejected knowledge,  *

I will reject you  * from serving as my priest.

Since you have forgotten the law of your God,  *

I will also forget your sons.

20 Go to God’s instruction and testimony!  * If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them.

24 Jesus spoke to them, "Isn’t this the reason why you’re mistaken: you don’t know the Scriptures*or the power*of God?*

4 For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction,  * so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you know this in advance, be on your guard,  * so that you are not led away by the error of lawless people and fall from your own stable position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge  * of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity.  *,*

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets,  * who prophesied about the grace that would come to you, searched and carefully investigated. 11 They inquired into what time or what circumstances the Spirit of Christ  * within them was indicating when he testified in advance  * to the sufferings of Christ  * and the glories  * that would follow.  *
