O Livro de Apocalipse, o último livro da Bíblia, é conhecido por suas visões e símbolos que retratam o fim dos tempos. Escrito pelo apóstolo João enquanto estava exilado na ilha de Patmos, o livro contém profecias sobre o julgamento final, a vitória de Cristo sobre as forças do mal e a criação de um novo céu e uma nova terra. Embora muitas vezes seja considerado enigmático, Apocalipse traz mensagens de esperança e vitória para os cristãos.
A introdução e as cartas às igrejas
Apocalipse começa com uma visão gloriosa de Jesus Cristo, revelando sua autoridade divina. João é instruído a escrever cartas para sete igrejas da Ásia Menor, abordando as condições espirituais de cada uma. Essas cartas contêm exortações e advertências, mas também promessas de recompensa para os que perseveram na fé.
Apocalipse 1:10-11
God’s Spirit took control of me on one of the days that we believers met to worship the Lord. At that time, I heard behind me someone speaking to me as loudly and as clearly [SIM] as a trumpet. He was saying to me, "Write on a scroll what you see, and send it to seven congregations. Send it to the congregations in Ephesus city, in Smyrna city, in Pergamum city, in Thyatira city, in Sardis city, in Philadelphia city, and in Laodicea city."
As visões do céu e o livro selado
Após as cartas às igrejas, João tem uma visão do céu, onde vê Deus no trono e o Cordeiro (Jesus Cristo) digno de abrir um livro selado com sete selos. Quando os selos são abertos, uma série de eventos cataclísmicos e julgamentos são revelados, simbolizando os desafios e sofrimentos que os cristãos enfrentarão até o fim dos tempos.
Apocalipse 5:1-2
When the Lamb took the scroll from the one on the throne, the whole created universe worshipped him who is the worthy Redeemer. The 24 elders and the four living creatures acknowledged that he alone was worthy to open the seals on the scroll.
I saw that there was a scroll in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. The scroll was written on its outside as well as on its inside, and it was sealed {Someone had written on the outside as well as on the inside of the scroll and sealed it} with seven seals. I saw a strong angel who was announcing in a loud voice, "◄The person who is worthy to break the seals of the scroll and then to open it should come to do it!/Who is worthy to break the seals of the scroll and then to open it?►" [RHQ]
As sete trombetas e o juízo final
Quando o livro é aberto, são tocadas sete trombetas, que trazem ainda mais calamidades sobre a terra. Essas trombetas representam a ira de Deus contra o pecado e a injustiça. A sétima trombeta, no entanto, anuncia a vitória definitiva de Cristo e o início do seu reinado eterno.
Apocalipse 11:15
When the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, voices from heaven declared that the Lord God and his Messiah now govern everyone, and the elders declared that the time had come for God’s final judgment. With the heavenly sanctuary open, lightning flashed, thunder reverberated, the earth shook, and large hail fell.
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet. Angels in heaven shouted loudly, "Our Lord God and the Messiah whom he has appointed can now govern everyone in [MTY] the world, and they will continue to rule people forever!"
A Besta, o Anticristo e a marca da besta
No Apocalipse, também encontramos a figura da besta, que simboliza a oposição a Cristo e a perseguição dos fiéis. A besta recebe poder do dragão (Satanás) e exige adoração. O famoso número 666 é associado à marca da besta, que aqueles que a seguem são obrigados a carregar. A marca da besta é um símbolo do compromisso com o mal e da rejeição a Deus.
Apocalipse 13:16-17
The second beast required also that the first beast’s name be marked {its agents mark the first beast’s name} on the right hand or on the forehead of everyone, those of little social importance and of great social importance, the rich and the poor, free people and slaves. Everyone! They did this in order that people could not buy anything or sell anything if they did not have the mark, which represents the name of the beast or the number of its name, on their foreheads.
A vitória de Cristo e a nova Jerusalém
O Livro de Apocalipse culmina com a vitória final de Cristo sobre Satanás e seus seguidores. Após a grande batalha, o céu e a terra são recriados, e Deus estabelece Seu reinado eterno. A nova Jerusalém desce do céu, e Deus habita com o Seu povo em perfeita comunhão, onde não haverá mais dor, sofrimento ou morte.
Apocalipse 21:1-4
John saw a new heaven, a new earth, and a New Jerusalem, the city where God will dwell permanently with his people.
Then in the vision I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and the oceans no longer existed. I saw God’s holy city, which is the new city of Jerusalem. It was coming down out of heaven from God. The city had been prepared and decorated {God had prepared and decorated the city} as [SIM] a bride is decorated {decorates herself} beautifully in order to marry her husband. I heard a loud voice that spoke from the throne of God. It said, "Listen to this! Now God will live with people. He will live right in the midst of them [DOU]! They will be his people. God himself will be with them, and he will be their God. As a result, he will cause them to no longer be sad. It will be as though he will [MTY] wipe every tear from their eyes. None of them will ever again die or mourn or cry [DOU] or suffer pain, because the former things that make us sad will have disappeared."
O Livro de Apocalipse é, ao mesmo tempo, um livro de juízo e esperança. Ele nos assegura que, apesar das tribulações e perseguições que os cristãos possam enfrentar, a vitória final é de Cristo, e com Ele, o povo de Deus terá vida eterna.
