A Bíblia tem muito a ensinar sobre a arte de falar. As palavras têm poder de vida e de morte — podem edificar ou destruir, curar ou ferir, aproximar ou afastar.
O poder das palavras
A morte e a vida estão no poder da língua. A palavra branda desvia a ira, mas a palavra dura suscita o furor.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love her will eat of her fruit.
A soft answer will turn away wrath,
but a word of trouble will stir anger.
Gentleness of tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it causes a break in spirit.
Joy belongs to a man with answers in his mouth,
and a word in its time, how good it is!
Plans go wrong when there is no counsel,
but with many advisors it will succeed.
Falar com sabedoria
No muito falar não falta transgressão. A boca do justo fala sabedoria, e quem guarda os lábios guarda a si mesmo.
In many words, transgression is not lacking,
but he who restrains his lips is prudent.
He who keeps his mouth guards his life;
he who opens his lips, ruin belongs to him.
Even a fool who keeps silent shall be considered wise;
he who closes his lips is intelligent.
A gossip walks about telling a secret,
but the trustworthy in spirit keeps the matter.
Open your mouth for the mute,
for the rights of all the needy.
The Consequences of Foolishness
The wise man wins favor by the words of his mouth,
but the fool is devoured by his own lips.
Falar a verdade
Cada palavra ociosa será pesada no dia do juízo. Fale a verdade, edifique com a boca e confesse Cristo com os lábios.
But I tell you that every worthless word that they speak, people will give an account for it on the day of judgment!
Confronting a Brother Who Sins Against You
"Now if your brother sins against you, go correct him between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
"But when you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the pagans, for they think that because of their many words they will be heard.
Therefore everything that you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
The good person out of the good treasury of his heart brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
that if you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
And likewise also, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as one ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with unexpressed groanings.
Edificar com palavras
Não saia da boca nenhuma palavra torpe. Sejam prontos para ouvir, tardios para falar, e tardios para a ira.
No rotten word must proceed from your mouth, but only something good for the building up of the need, in order that it may give grace to those who hear,
Doers of the Message, Not Just Hearers
Understand this, my dear brothers: every person must be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,
For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect individual, able to hold in check his whole body also.
not repaying evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the other hand blessing others, because for this reason you were called, so that you could inherit a blessing.
Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
Praise to Yahweh for His Work on Behalf of Israel
Give thanks to Yahweh; proclaim his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples.
My mouth is filled with your praise,
with your glory all the day.
