Falar
Life and death are in the power of the tongue;
And they that rule it shall eat the fruits thereof.
Anger slays even wise men;
Yet a submissive answer turns away wrath:
But a grievous word stirs up anger.
The wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
And he that keeps it shall be filled with understanding.
A bad man will by no means attend to counsel;
Neither will he say anything seasonable, or good for the common weal.
They that honor not councils put off deliberation;
But counsel abides in the hearts of counselors.
By a multitude of words thou shalt not escape sin;
But if thou refrain thy lips thou wilt be prudent.
He that keeps his own mouth keeps his own life:
But he that is hasty with his lips shall bring terror upon himself.
Wisdom shall be imputed to a fool who asks after wisdom:
And he who holds his peace shall seem to be sensible.
A double-tongued man discloses the secret counsels of an assembly:
But he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.
The words of a wise mouth are gracious:
But the lips of a fool will swallow him up.
Falar a verdade
Alleluia.
Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good:
For his mercy endures forever.
And he shall have dominion from sea to sea,
And from the river to the ends of the earth.
