A família de Deus transcende laços de sangue. Em Cristo, somos adotados como filhos, irmãos uns dos outros e membros de uma família eterna — a Igreja.

Recebemos o espírito de adoção pelo qual clamamos: Abba, Pai! Se filhos, também herdeiros — herdeiros de Deus e co-herdeiros com Cristo.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, "Abba! Father!" And if one member suffers, all the members suffer together; if a member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
Consequently, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens of the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,in whom the whole building, joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are built up together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

See what sort of love the Father has given to us: that we should be called children of God, and we are! Because of this the world does not know us: because it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that whenever he is revealed we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the household of faith.
