3 Behold, *children are a heritage from the Lord,

*the fruit of the womb a reward.

4 Like arrows in the hand of *a warrior

are the children* of one’s youth.

5 Blessed is the man

who fills his quiver with them!

He shall not be put to shame

when he speaks with his enemies *in the gate.*

1 *Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,

who *walks in his ways!

2 You *shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;

you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

3 Your wife will be like *a fruitful vine

within your house;

your children will be like *olive shoots

around your table.

4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed

who fears the Lord.

1 *Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,

12 May our sons in their youth

be like *plants full grown,

our daughters like *corner pillars

cut for the structure of a palace;

2 His *offspring will be mighty in the land;

*the generation of the upright will be blessed.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, *"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

4 Blessed shall be *the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock.

14 You shall be blessed above all peoples. *There shall not be male or female barren among you or among your livestock.

6 *Train up a child in the way he should go;

even when he is old he will not depart from it.

15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,

but *the rod of discipline drives it far from him.

24 *Whoever spares the rod hates his son,

but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him.*

15 *The rod and reproof give wisdom,

but a child left to himself *brings shame to his mother.

13 Do not withhold *discipline from a child;

*if you strike him with a rod, he will not die.

1 *Hear, O sons, a father’s instruction,

and be attentive, that you may *gain* insight,

1 *The proverbs of Solomon.

*A wise son makes a glad father,

*but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.

6 And *these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 *You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, *"Let the children come to me; *do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.

11 If you then, *who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will *your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

52 And Jesus *increased in wisdom and in stature* and in *favor with God and man.

13 As *a father shows compassion to his children,

so the Lord shows compassion *to those who fear him.

1 See *what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called *children of God; and so we are. The reason why *the world does not know us is that *it did not know him.

24 The Lord*bless you and *keep you;

25 the Lord*make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

26 the Lord*lift up his countenance* upon you and give you peace.

28 May God give you of *the dew of heaven

and of the fatness of the earth

and *plenty of grain and wine.

29 Let peoples serve you,

and nations *bow down to you.

*Be lord over your brothers,

and may your mother’s sons bow down to you.

*Cursed be everyone who curses you,

and blessed be everyone who blesses you!"

3 *For I will pour water on the thirsty land,

and streams on the dry ground;

I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring,

and my blessing on your descendants.

4 They shall spring up among the grass

*like willows by flowing streams.

13 *All your children *shall be taught by the Lord,

*and great shall be the peace of your children.

5 *"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

and before you were born *I consecrated you;

I appointed you a prophet *to the nations."

38 *And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 39 *I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, *for their own good and the good of their children after them.

13 For you *formed my inward parts;

you *knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.*

*Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.

15 *My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in *the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your *book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

10 On you was I cast from my birth,

and from *my mother’s womb you have been my God.

25 I have been young, and now am old,

yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken

or his children *begging for bread.

26 He is ever *lending generously,

and his children become a blessing.

4 We will not *hide them from their children,

but *tell to the coming generation

the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,

and *the wonders that he has done.

6 *Grandchildren are *the crown of the aged,

and the glory of children is their fathers.

7 The righteous who *walks in his integrity—

*blessed are his children after him!

1 *Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 *"Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 "that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land."

4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, *but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

20 Children, obey your parents *in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

12 *"Honor your father and your mother, *that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

7 It is for discipline that you have to endure. *God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, *in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn *to show godliness to their own household and to make some return to their parents, for *this is pleasing in the sight of God.

21 *When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

39 And as for *your little ones, who you said would become a prey, and your children, who today *have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there. And to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.
