Os céus e a terra passarão, mas as palavras de Jesus permanecerão para sempre. O mundo presente é temporário.
Heaven and earth may pass away, but my words won’t pass away.
But right after those days of persecution the sun will be darkened, the moon will not shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken.
But no one knows the day or hour when this will take place, not the angels in heaven, nor the Son. Only the Father knows.

O dia do Senhor
O dia do Senhor virá como ladrão. Os céus passarão com grande estrondo, e os elementos se dissolverão no fogo.
However, the day of the Lord will come, unexpectedly like a thief. The heavens will explode with a thunderous roar, and the elements will be destroyed as they are burned up. The earth and everything in it will vanish.
But by means of that same divine command the heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for destruction by fire at the day of judgment when the wicked will be destroyed.
Since everything is going to be destroyed in this way, what kind of people should you be? You should be living lives that are pure, dedicated to God, waiting expectantly and being eager for the coming of the day of God. That day the heavens will catch fire and be destroyed, and the elements will melt in the heat.
Brothers and sisters, we don’t need to write anything to you about prophetic times and dates. You yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. When people talk about peace and security suddenly they will be completely ruined. It will be just like the sudden onset of childbirth, and they certainly won’t escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the dark about this so that you won’t be caught by surprise when the Day of Judgment arrives suddenly like a thief. For you are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night or to darkness.

So then we shouldn’t be sleeping like everybody else—we should stay awake and keep ourselves clear-headed. For it’s during the night that people sleep; and it’s at night that they get drunk. But since we belong to the day we should keep our heads clear. We strap on the breastplate of trust and love. We put on the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God hasn’t placed us in a position to be punished, but has reserved us for salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Destruição e renovação
O Dia do Senhor trará juízo sobre os ímpios, mas também novos céus e nova terra onde habita a justiça.
The great day of the Lord is near and approaching rapidly. It will be a bitter day—even warriors will cry out loud. It will be a day of anger, a day of trouble and distress, a day of disaster and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, a day of trumpet calls and battle cries against fortified cities and watchtowers. I will bring trouble on humanity, making them walk like blind people because they have sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be spilled like so much dust; their intestines like dung. Their silver and their gold won’t help to save them on the day of the Lord’s anger. The whole earth will be burned up by the fire of his jealous anger. He will make sure the end of the people of the world is sudden and complete.
Look! The day of the Lord is coming—cruel, with fury and fierce anger—to devastate the land and to wipe out its sinners.
When he opened the sixth seal there was a tremendous earthquake. The sun turned black like hair sackcloth and the whole moon turned red like blood. The stars of heaven fell to earth like unripe figs falling from a fig tree shaken by a windstorm.
The great dragon, the ancient serpent called the devil and Satan who deceives the whole world, was thrown down to the earth, and his angels with him.
There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars, and on the earth the nations will be in distress, confused by the sea’s rolling and crashing. People will be faint from fear, terrified about what is happening to the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken.
Always keep watch and pray, so that you may be able to escape all that will happen and stand before the Son of man."
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and the sea no longer existed. I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven, prepared like a bride made beautiful for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne say, "Now God’s home is with human beings and he will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will never happen again. There will be no mourning or crying or pain ever again for the former world no longer exists."
The one who sits on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" He told me, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
