14 When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come.

29 *Right after those days of suffering,

"The sun will become dark,

and the moon

will no longer shine.

The stars will fall,

and the powers in the sky*

will be shaken."

30 *Then a sign will appear in the sky. And there will be the Son of Man.* All nations on earth will weep when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 At the sound of a loud trumpet, he will send his angels to bring his chosen ones together from all over the earth.

42 So be on your guard! You don’t know when your Lord will come. 43 *Homeowners never know when a thief is coming, and they are always on guard to keep one from breaking in. 44 Always be ready! You don’t know when the Son of Man will come.

20 and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.

32 *No one knows the day or the time. The angels in heaven don’t know, and the Son himself doesn’t know. Only the Father knows.

1 You can be certain that in the last days there will be some very hard times. 2 People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents. They will also be ungrateful, godless, 3 heartless, and hateful. Their words will be cruel, and they will have no self-control or pity. These people will hate everything good. 4 They will be sneaky, reckless, and puffed up with pride. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure. 5 Even though they will make a show of being religious, their religion won’t be real. Don’t have anything to do with such people.

17 *"When the last days come,

I will give my Spirit

to everyone.

Your sons and daughters

will prophesy.

Your young men

will see visions,

and your old men

will have dreams.

18 In those days I will give

my Spirit to my servants,

both men and women,

and they will prophesy.

19 "I will work miracles

in the sky above

and wonders

on the earth below.

There will be blood and fire

and clouds of smoke.

20 The sun will turn dark,

and the moon

will be as red as blood

before the great

and wonderful day

of the Lord appears.

21 Then the Lord

will save everyone

who asks for his help."

28 *Later, I will give my Spirit

to everyone.

Your sons and daughters

will prophesy.

Your old men

will have dreams,

and your young men

will see visions.

29 In those days I will even give

my Spirit to my servants,

both men and women.

1 *Michael, the chief of the angels, is the protector of your people, and he will come at a time of terrible suffering, the worst in all of history. And your people who have their names written in The Book* will be protected. 2 *Many of those who lie dead in the ground will rise from death. Some of them will be given eternal life, and others will receive nothing but eternal shame and disgrace. 3 *Everyone who has been wise will shine as bright as the sky above, and everyone who has led others to please God will shine forever like the stars.

15 **Our Lord Jesus told us that when he comes, we won’t go up to meet him ahead of his followers who have already died.

16 *With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God’s trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. 17 Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever. 18 Encourage each other with these words.

6 Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert. 7 People sleep during the night, and some even get drunk. 8 *But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet.

9 God doesn’t intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ.

34 Don’t spend all of your time thinking about eating or drinking or worrying about life. If you do, the final day will suddenly catch you 35 like a trap. This day will surprise everyone on earth. 36 Watch out and keep praying that you can escape all that is going to happen and that the Son of Man will be pleased with you.

8 *Dear friends, don’t forget that for the Lord one day is the same as 1,000 years, and 1,000 years is the same as one day. 9 The Lord isn’t slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.

10 *The day of the Lord’s return will surprise us like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a loud noise, and the heat will melt the whole universe.* Then the earth and everything on it will be seen for what they are.*

11 Everything will be destroyed. So you should serve and honor God by the way you live. 12 You should look forward to the day when God judges everyone, and you should try to make it come soon.* On that day the heavens will be destroyed by fire, and everything else will melt in the heat. 13 *But God has promised us a new heaven and a new earth, where justice will rule. We are really looking forward to this!

51 *I will explain a mystery to you. Not every one of us will die, but we will all be changed. 52 It will happen suddenly, quicker than the blink of an eye. At the sound of the last trumpet the dead will be raised. We will all be changed, so we will never die again.

17 *I am creating new heavens

and a new earth;

everything of the past

will be forgotten.

18 Celebrate and be glad forever!

I am creating a Jerusalem,

full of happy people.

19 *I will celebrate with Jerusalem

and all its people;

there will be no more crying

or sorrow in that city.

1 The day of judgment is certain to come. And it will be like a red-hot furnace with flames that burn up proud and sinful people, as though they were straw. Not a branch or a root will be left. I, the Lord All-Powerful, have spoken! 2 But for you that honor my name, victory will shine like the sun with healing in its rays, and you will jump around like calves at play.

1 *I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea. 2 *Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

3 *I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:

God’s home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. 4 *He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.
