The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.

People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them.

Money

You cannot be the slave of two masters! You will like one more than the other or be more loyal to one than the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Don’t be controlled by your body. Kill every desire for the wrong kind of sex. Don’t be immoral or indecent or have evil thoughts. Don’t be greedy, which is the same as worshiping idols.

You are God’s people, so don’t let it be said that any of you are immoral or indecent or greedy.

Contentamento

Tende cuidado e guardai-vos de toda espécie de ganância. A vida de um homem não consiste na abundância dos bens que possui.

Then he said to the crowd, "Don’t be greedy! Owning a lot of things won’t make your life safe."

What will you gain, if you own the whole world but destroy yourself?

Treasures in Heaven

Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them.

7

Give up trying so hard

to get rich.

Money wrongly gained

will disappear bit by bit;

money earned little by little

will grow and grow.

Riqueza ilusória

As riquezas são passageiras. Quem ama o dinheiro nunca terá o suficiente. O contentamento com o que se tem é verdadeira riqueza.

If you love money and wealth, you will never be satisfied with what you have. This doesn’t make a bit of sense.

They came into this world naked, and when they die, they will be just as naked. They can’t take anything with them, and they won’t have anything to show for all their work.

But people who obey God

are always generous.

You must also pay your taxes. The authorities are God’s servants, and it is their duty to take care of these matters.

Make me want to obey you,

rather than to be rich.
