10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, in their eagerness to get rich, have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with much pain.
9 But people who want to get rich keep toppling into temptation and are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires that plunge them into destruction and ruin.
24 "No one can serve two masters. For either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!"
5 So put to death your worldly impulses: sexual sin, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).
3 Do not let sexual sin, impurity of any kind, or greed even be mentioned among you, as is proper for saints.
Contentamento
Tende cuidado e guardai-vos de toda espécie de ganância. A vida de um homem não consiste na abundância dos bens que possui.
15 Then he said to them,"Be careful to guard yourselves against every kind of greed, for a person's life doesn't consist of the amount of possessions he has."
36 For what profit will a person have if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life?
19 "Stop storing up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.20 But keep on storing up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Riqueza ilusória
As riquezas são passageiras. Quem ama o dinheiro nunca terá o suficiente. O contentamento com o que se tem é verdadeira riqueza.
6 This is also why you pay taxes. For rulers are God's servants faithfully devoting themselves to their work.
