10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs.
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
24 "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
3 But fornication and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is fitting among saints.
Contentamento
Tende cuidado e guardai-vos de toda espécie de ganância. A vida de um homem não consiste na abundância dos bens que possui.
15 And he said to them, "Take heed, and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
36 For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal,20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.
4 Do not toil to acquire wealth; be wise enough to desist.
11 Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but he who gathers little by little will increase it.
Riqueza ilusória
As riquezas são passageiras. Quem ama o dinheiro nunca terá o suficiente. O contentamento com o que se tem é verdadeira riqueza.
10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money; nor he who loves wealth, with gain: this also is vanity.
15 As he came from his mother's womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil, which he may carry away in his hand.
26 All day long the wicked covets, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.
6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
36 Incline my heart to thy testimonies, and not to gain!
