Honestidade

1 Dishonest scales are detestable to the  Lord,  *

but an accurate weight is his delight.  *

3 The integrity of the upright guides them,  *

but the perversity of the treacherous destroys them.  *

9 Then you will understand righteousness, justice,

and integrity — every good path.

3 Doing what is righteous and just

is more acceptable to the  Lord than sacrifice.  *

25 Let your eyes look forward;

fix your gaze  * straight ahead.  *

2 Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting  * deceitfully or distorting the word of God,  * but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth.  *

21 Indeed, we are giving careful thought  * to do what is right,  * not only before the Lord but also before people.

9 Do not lie  * to one another, since you have put off  * the old self  * with its practices

7 Pay your obligations  * to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes,  * tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect,  * and honor to those you owe honor.

6 And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks.  *

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil.  * Give careful thought to do what is honorable  * in everyone’s eyes.

Treat Others Fairly

27 When it is in your power,  *

don’t withhold good  * from the one to whom it belongs.

than great income with injustice.  *

2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit anyone,

but righteousness rescues from death.  *

13 The one who conceals his sins

will not prosper,  *

but whoever confesses and renounces them

will find mercy.  *

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.  *

Truthful Speech

12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath.  * But let your "yes" mean "yes," and your "no" mean "no," so that you won’t fall under judgment.  *

17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without pretense.  *

6 If we say, "We have fellowship  * with him," and yet we walk in darkness,  * we are lying and are not practicing the truth.  *

18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.  *

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.*

7 Be silent before the  Lord and wait expectantly for him;  *

do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way,

by the person who carries out evil plans.  *

5 Good will come to the one who lends generously

and conducts his business fairly.  *

15 Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.  *

Using Your Light

16 "No one, after lighting a lamp,*covers it with a basket or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in may see its light.*

13 By rebellious speech an evil person is trapped,  *

but a righteous person escapes from trouble.  *

17 Whoever speaks the truth declares what is right,

but a false witness speaks deceit.  *

28 A contrary person spreads conflict,

and a gossip separates close friends.  *
