Honrar os pais
Honrar pai e mãe é mandamento de Deus com promessa de vida longa e feliz. A Bíblia ensina que respeitar, obedecer e cuidar dos pais é dever sagrado dos filhos.
O mandamento com promessa
Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe para que vá bem contigo e vivas muito tempo sobre a terra. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa.
"Honor (respect, obey, care for) your father and your mother, so that your days may be prolonged in the land the Lord your God gives you.
‘Honor (respect, obey, care for) your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that your days [on the earth] may be prolonged and so that it may go well with you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
Honor [esteem, value as precious] your father and your mother [and be respectful to them]—this is the first commandment with a promise— so that it may be well with you, and that you may have a long life on the earth. [Ex 20:12]
Family Relationships
Children, obey your parents in the Lord [that is, accept their guidance and discipline as His representatives], for this is right [for obedience teaches wisdom and self-discipline]. Honor [esteem, value as precious] your father and your mother [and be respectful to them]—this is the first commandment with a promise— so that it may be well with you, and that you may have a long life on the earth. [Ex 20:12]
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them], but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Children, obey your parents [as God’s representatives] in all things, for this [attitude of respect and obedience] is well-pleasing to the Lord [and will bring you God’s promised blessings].
Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. Ouvir a instrução do pai e não desprezar o ensino da mãe traz sabedoria.

A Father’s Instruction
Hear, O children, the instruction of a father,
And pay attention [and be willing to learn] so that you may gain understanding and intelligent discernment.
Contrast the Upright and the Wicked
A wise son heeds and accepts [and is the result of] his father’s discipline and instruction,
But a scoffer does not listen to reprimand and does not learn from his errors.
Listen to your father, who sired you,
And do not despise your mother when she is old.
He replied to them, "Why also do you violate the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders]? For God said [through Moses], ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil oforinsultsortreats improperly father or mother is to be put to death.’ [Ex 20:12; 21:17; Lev 20:9; Deut 5:16]
He replied to them, "Why also do you violate the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders]? For God said [through Moses], ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil oforinsultsortreats improperly father or mother is to be put to death.’ [Ex 20:12; 21:17; Lev 20:9; Deut 5:16] But you say, ‘If anyone says to his father or mother, "Whatever [money or resource that] I have that would help you is [already dedicated and] given to God,"he is not to honor his father or his mother [by helping them with their need].’ So by this you have invalidated the word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect] for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders].
Consequências da desonra
A Bíblia adverte severamente contra a desonra aos pais. Quem amaldiçoa ou agride os pais enfrenta consequências sérias.
He who assaults his father and chases away his mother
Is a son who brings shame and disgrace. [1 Tim 5:8]
Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp [of life] will be extinguished in time of darkness.
The eye that mocks a father
And scorns a mother,
The ravens of the valley will pick it out,
And the young vultures will devour it. [Lev 20:9; Prov 20:20; 23:22]
"Whoever curses his father or his mother or treats them contemptuously must be put to death.
"Difficult Times Will Come"
But understand this, that in the last days dangerous times [of great stress and trouble] will come [difficult days that will be hard to bear]. For people will be lovers of self [narcissistic, self-focused], lovers of money [impelled by greed], boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane, [and they will be] unloving [devoid of natural human affection, calloused and inhumane], irreconcilable, malicious gossips, devoid of self-control [intemperate, immoral], brutal, haters of good,
Cuidar dos pais
Quem não cuida dos seus, principalmente de sua família, negou a fé. Honrar os pais inclui respeitar os idosos.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren [who are adults], see to it that these first learn to show great respect to their own family [as their religious duty and natural obligation], and to compensate their parents or grandparents [for their upbringing]; for this is acceptable and pleasing in the sight of God.
If anyone fails to provide for his own, and especially for those of his own family, he has denied the faith [by disregarding its precepts] and is worse than an unbeliever [who fulfills his obligation in these matters].
Each of you shall respect his mother and his father, and you shall keep My Sabbaths; I am the Lord your God.
‘You shall rise before the gray-headed and honor the aged, and you shall fear your God [with profound reverence]; I am the Lord.
