Honrar os pais
Honrar pai e mãe é mandamento de Deus com promessa de vida longa e feliz. A Bíblia ensina que respeitar, obedecer e cuidar dos pais é dever sagrado dos filhos.
O mandamento com promessa
Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe para que vá bem contigo e vivas muito tempo sobre a terra. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa.
2 Honour thy father and thy mother,3 that it may be well with thee, and thy life be prolonged upon the earth.
1 Children, obey your parents in our Lord, for this is right; and this is the first commandment which promiseth.2 Honour thy father and thy mother,3 that it may be well with thee, and thy life be prolonged upon the earth.4 Parents, make not your children angry, but make them to grow in the discipline and in the doctrine of our Lord.
20 Children, obey your parents in every thing, for so it is pleasing before our Lord.
Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. Ouvir a instrução do pai e não desprezar o ensino da mãe traz sabedoria.

Consequências da desonra
A Bíblia adverte severamente contra a desonra aos pais. Quem amaldiçoa ou agride os pais enfrenta consequências sérias.
1 But know this, that in the last days hard times will come;2 and men will be lovers of themselves, and lovers of money, boastful, lofty, blasphemous, to their men not obedient, deniers of grace, impious, calumniators,3 subjected to lust, brutal, haters of the good,
Cuidar dos pais
Quem não cuida dos seus, principalmente de sua família, negou a fé. Honrar os pais inclui respeitar os idosos.
4 And if there be a widow who hath children, or children's children, let them learn first to do justly for their families, and to repay the debts (owing) to their parents; for this is acceptable before Aloha.
8 For if a man hath not care of them who are his own, and especially of them who are children of the household of faith, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than those who believe not.
