Honrar os pais
Honrar pai e mãe é mandamento de Deus com promessa de vida longa e feliz. A Bíblia ensina que respeitar, obedecer e cuidar dos pais é dever sagrado dos filhos.
O mandamento com promessa
Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe para que vá bem contigo e vivas muito tempo sobre a terra. É o primeiro mandamento com promessa.
Honor your father and your mother, so that your days are prolonged on the ground which your God YHWH is giving to you.
Honor your father and your mother, as your God YHWH has commanded you, so that your days are prolonged, and so that it is well with you on the ground which your God YHWH is giving to you.

Obedecer e respeitar
Filhos, obedecei a vossos pais no Senhor. Ouvir a instrução do pai e não desprezar o ensino da mãe traz sabedoria.
Hear, my son, the instruction of your father, || And do not leave the law of your mother,
Hear, my son, the instruction of your father, || And do not leave the law of your mother, For they [are] a graceful wreath to your head, || And chains to your neck.
Hear, you sons, the instruction of a father, || And give attention to know understanding.
A wise son—the instruction of a father, || And a scorner—he has not heard rebuke.
Listen to your father, who begot you, || And do not despise your mother when she has become old.
And He answering said to them, "Why also do you transgress the command of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death;
And He answering said to them, "Why also do you transgress the command of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who is speaking evil of father or mother—let him die the death; but you say, Whoever may say to father or mother, An offering [is] whatever you may be profited by me— and he may not honor his father or his mother, and you set aside the command of God because of your tradition.
Consequências da desonra
A Bíblia adverte severamente contra a desonra aos pais. Quem amaldiçoa ou agride os pais enfrenta consequências sérias.
Whoever is spoiling a father causes a mother to flee, || A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.
Whoever is vilifying his father and his mother, his lamp is extinguished in blackness of darkness.
An eye that mocks at a father, || And despises to obey a mother, || Ravens of the valley dig it out, || And young eagles eat it.
And he who is reviling his father or his mother is certainly put to death.
And know this, that in the last days there will come perilous times, for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, slanderous, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unkind, without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, without control, barbaric, not lovers of those who are good,
Cuidar dos pais
Quem não cuida dos seus, principalmente de sua família, negou a fé. Honrar os pais inclui respeitar os idosos.
and if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety to their own house, and to give back a repayment to the parents, for this is right and acceptable before God.
and if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of the household, he has denied the faith, and he is worse than an unbeliever.
You each fear his mother and his father, and you keep My Sabbaths; I [am] your God YHWH.
You rise up at the presence of grey hairs, and you have honored the presence of an old man, and have been afraid of your God; I [am] YHWH.
