10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

6 Humble  * yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand  * of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time,

14 and my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.  *

8 The Lord is good and upright;  *

therefore he shows sinners the way.  *

9 He leads the humble in what is right  *

and teaches them his way.  *

23 A person’s pride will humble him,  *

but a humble spirit will gain honor.  *

12 Before his downfall a person’s heart is proud,  *

but humility comes before honor.  *

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition  * or conceit,  * but in humility  * consider others as more important  * than yourselves.

20 Now to our God and Father  * be glory forever and ever.  * Amen.  *

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved,  * put on compassion, kindness,  * humility,  * gentleness,  * and patience,  *

2 with all humility  * and gentleness, with patience,  * bearing  * with one another in love,  *

13 For you were called  * to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity  * for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

8 Finally, all of you be like-minded and sympathetic, love one another,  * and be compassionate  * and humble,  *

3 Don’t let your beauty consist of outward things like elaborate hairstyles and wearing gold jewelry or fine clothes,  *4 but rather what is inside the heart  *,*  — the imperishable quality of a gentle  * and quiet  * spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,*because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.*30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

2 So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward.*

35 Sitting down, he called the Twelve  * and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be last and servant of all."*

48 He told them, "Whoever welcomes*this little child in my name welcomes me. And whoever welcomes me welcomes him who sent me.*For whoever is least among you — this one is great."*

4 Humility, the fear of the  Lord,

results in wealth, honor, and life.  *

33 The fear of the Lord is what wisdom teaches,

and humility comes before honor.  *

2 When arrogance comes, disgrace follows,

but with humility comes wisdom.  *

8 Mankind, he has told each of you what is good  *

and what it is the  Lord requires of you:  *

to act justly,  *

to love faithfulness,  *

and to walk humbly with your God.  *

18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.  *19 Husbands,  * love your wives  * and don’t be bitter  * toward them.

16 Live in harmony with one another.  * Do not be proud;  * instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.  *

28 God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world  *  — what is viewed as nothing — to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, 29 so that no one  * may boast in his presence.  *

13 Who among you is wise and understanding? By his good conduct he should show that his works are done in the gentleness that comes from wisdom.  *
