Humildade
A humildade é o caminho da honra verdadeira. Deus resiste aos soberbos, mas dá graça aos humildes. Jesus lavou os pés dos discípulos e nos ensinou que o maior é aquele que serve.
Humilhar-se diante de Deus
Humilhai-vos diante do Senhor e Ele vos exaltará. Quem se humilha será exaltado, e quem se exalta será humilhado.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you.
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
8 Remember not the sins of my youth, or my transgressions; according to thy steadfast love remember me, for thy goodness' sake, O LORD!9 Good and upright is the LORD; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
23 A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
12 Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor.
Humildade como virtude
Considerai os outros como superiores a vós mesmos. Revesti-vos de humildade, mansidão e paciência no trato uns com os outros.
3 Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves.
20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience,
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love,
13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants of one another.
8 Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind.
3 Let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing,4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
O exemplo de Jesus
Aprendei de mim, que sou manso e humilde de coração. O maior entre vós seja o que serve — esse é o caminho do Reino.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
2 "Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
35 And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, "If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
48 and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me; for he who is least among you all is the one who is great."
4 The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.
33 The fear of the LORD is instruction in wisdom, and humility goes before honor.
2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom.
Humildade verdadeira
O que se exige de ti? Praticar a justiça, amar a misericórdia e andar humildemente com teu Deus.
8 He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; never be conceited.
28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are,29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good life let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
