Os irmãos de Jesus são mencionados nos Evangelhos. Embora inicialmente céticos sobre sua missão, alguns, como Tiago, tornaram-se líderes da igreja primitiva.

Jesus teve irmãos chamados Tiago, José, Simão e Judas. Eles conviveram com Ele na casa de Nazaré e participaram de sua vida pública.
Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
And while he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.
There come then his brethren and his mother; and, standing without, they sent unto him, calling him. And a multitude was sitting about him; and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother, and thy brethren, and thy sisters without seek for thee. Os irmãos de Jesus não criam nele inicialmente. Mas após a ressurreição, estavam entre os discípulos em oração.
