Os irmãos de Jesus são mencionados nos Evangelhos. Embora inicialmente céticos sobre sua missão, alguns, como Tiago, tornaram-se líderes da igreja primitiva.

Jesus teve irmãos chamados Tiago, José, Simão e Judas. Eles conviveram com Ele na casa de Nazaré e participaram de sua vida pública.
Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joses and Simon and Jude? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?"

Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. A crowd was sitting around Him; so they said to Him, "Look, your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you." He answered them saying, "Who is my mother or my brothers?" And looking around at those seated in a circle around Him He said: "Behold my mother and my brothers! Because whoever does the will of God, the same is my brother, my sister, my mother."

Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and they could not get near Him because of the crowd.

Os irmãos de Jesus não criam nele inicialmente. Mas após a ressurreição, estavam entre os discípulos em oração.
So His brothers said to Him: "Leave here and go up into Judea so your disciples also may see the works that you are doing, because no one does anything in secret while he actually wants to be in evidence. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world!" For not even His brothers were believing into Him.
Jesus says to her: "Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father—my God and your God.’ "
All these were continuing with one purpose in prayer and petition, along with the women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
