Isn’t he the carpenter’s son? Isn’t Mary his mother, and aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas his brothers? Aren’t all his sisters living here? Where did he get all this?"
Jesus' Mother and Brothers
Jesus was still talking to the people when his mother and brothers arrived. They stood outside, asking to speak with him.
Jesus' Mother and Brothers
Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. They stood outside the house and sent in a message, asking for him. A crowd was sitting around Jesus, and they said to him, "Look, your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, and they want you."
Jesus answered, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" He looked at the people sitting around him and said, "Look! Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does what God wants is my brother, my sister, my mother."
Jesus' Mother and Brothers
Jesus' mother and brothers came to him, but were unable to join him because of the crowd.
Da incredulidade à fé
Os irmãos de Jesus não criam nele inicialmente. Mas após a ressurreição, estavam entre os discípulos em oração.
so Jesus' brothers said to him, "Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your followers will see the things that you are doing. People don’t hide what they are doing if they want to be well known. Since you are doing these things, let the whole world know about you!" ( Not even his brothers believed in him.)
"Do not hold on to me," Jesus told her, "because I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am returning to him who is my Father and their Father, my God and their God."
They gathered frequently to pray as a group, together with the women and with Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers.
I did not see any other apostle except James, the Lord’s brother.
It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation.
He purifies people from their sins, and both he and those who are made pure all have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his family.
