55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? How then hath this man all these things?

46 While he was yet speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood outside, desiring to speak with him.

31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said to him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?34 And he looked around on them who sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!35 For whoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come near to him for the crowd.

Da incredulidade à fé

Os irmãos de Jesus não criam nele inicialmente. Mas após a ressurreição, estavam entre os discípulos em oração.

3 His brethren therefore said to him, Depart from here, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.5 For neither did his brethren believe in him.

17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

19 But I saw no other of the apostles, except James the Lord’s brother.

10 For it was befitting for him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,
