God Is Love

7 Beloved, *let us love one another, for love is from God, and *whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

20 *If anyone says, "I love God," and *hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot* love God *whom he has not seen.

10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him* there is no *cause for stumbling.

Overcoming the World

1 *Everyone who believes that *Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and *everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him.

22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for *a sincere brotherly love, *love one another earnestly from a pure heart,

25 *not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and *all the more as you see *the Day drawing near.

and a brother is born for adversity.

than a brother who is far away.

Instructions for the Church

1 *Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, *younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.

8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for *members of his household, he has *denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
