Then Yeshua [God is Salvation] was taken by Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit [Ruach]) into the wilderness to be tried or tested by Satan [the adversary].
He fasted forty days and forty nights and afterwards was hungry.
He said to them: "Because of the limitation of your faith. Truly I say to you, if there be any faith in you, as a grain of mustard, if you believe, you will say to this mountain depart and it will depart; nothing will be withheld from you."
"But this kind of demon does not come out except by prayer and fasting.
Again he said to them: "When you fast do not be as the sad hypocrites who make themselves appear sad and who change their faces, to show their fasting before men; truly I say to you, they have already received their reward".
"But when you fast, wash your heads".
"that you might not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father Who is in secret, and your Father Who is in secret will reward you".
Being forty days tried or tested of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
O jejum nas Escrituras
Ao longo da Bíblia, grandes homens e mulheres de fé jejuaram em momentos decisivos — buscando a Deus com urgência e devoção.
And he was there with the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
And I set my face unto the Lord-Adonai (The Father) [Greatest Above All Things], the God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
Go, gather together all the Y’hudim (Judeans) that are present in Shushan [lily], and fast you2f for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which [is] not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned [certain] days, and fasted, and prayed before the God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] of heaven,
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava [I shall subsist], that we might afflict ourselves before our God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
So we fasted and besought our God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] for this: and he was intreated of us.
So we fasted and besought our God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] for this: and he was intreated of us.
David [beloved] therefore besought God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] for the child; and David [beloved] fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
So the people of Nineveh [abode of Ninus, or Offspring’s Habitation] believed God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
For word came unto the king of Nineveh [abode of Ninus, or Offspring’s Habitation], and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered [him] with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And he caused [it] to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh [abode of Ninus, or Offspring’s Habitation] by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water:
But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]: yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands.
Who can tell [if] God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
And God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not.
O jejum que Deus escolheu
Isaías revela o jejum que agrada a Deus: soltar as cadeias da injustiça, libertar os oprimidos e repartir o pão com o faminto.
For what reason have we fasted, [say they], and youi see not? [wherefore] have we afflicted our soul, and youi take no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast you2f find pleasure, and exact all your labours.
Behold, you2f fast for strife and debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness: you2f shall not fast as [you2f do this] day, to make your voice to be heard on high.
Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? [is it] to bow down his head as a bulrush (tall plant near water, such as papyrus), and to spread sackcloth and ashes [under him]? will youi call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate)?
[Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you2f break every yoke?
[Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you2f break every yoke?
Therefore also now, says the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), turn you2f [even] to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Therefore also now, says the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), turn you2f [even] to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Sanctify (make holy; set apart for God’s use) you2f a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders [and] all the inhabitants of the land [into] the house of the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) your God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered], and cry unto the LORD-Yehōvah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate),
A igreja primitiva
Os apóstolos jejuavam antes de decisões importantes. O jejum acompanhava a consagração de líderes e o envio de missionários.
As they ministered to the Lord - Kurios, and fasted, the Holy Spirit [Ruach HaKodesh] said, Separate me Bar-Nabba [son of rest] and Sha’ul [desired] for the work whereunto I have called them.

And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid [their] hands on them, they sent [them] away.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord - Kurios, on whom they believed.
Praticando o jejum
Quando jejuares, unge a cabeça e lava o rosto. O jejum é entre você e Deus — não para impressionar os homens, mas para buscar ao Senhor.
And she [was] a widow of about eighty and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served [God-Theos] with fastings and prayers night and day.
And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of Yochanan [Yehovah has graced] fast often, and make prayers, and likewise [the disciples] of the P’rushim (Pharisee [separatist]s) [separatists]; but youi eat and drink?
And he said unto them, Can you2f make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing [was] sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.
