The Great White Throne Judgment

11 Then I saw a great white throne and one seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.  *12 I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.  * Another book was opened, which is the book of life,  * and the dead were judged according to their works  * by what was written in the books. 13 Then the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades  * gave up the dead that were in them; each one was judged according to their works. 14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  * This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

9 "As I kept watching,

thrones were set in place,  *

and the Ancient of Days took his seat.

His clothing was white like snow,  *

and the hair of his head like whitest wool.  *

His throne was flaming fire;  *

its wheels were blazing fire.  *

10 A river of fire was flowing,

coming out from his presence.

Thousands upon thousands  * served him;

ten thousand times ten thousand  * stood before him.

The court was convened,  *

and the books were opened.  *

2 Many who sleep in the dust  *

of the earth will awake,

some to eternal life,  *

and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.  *

3 Those who have insight will shine

like the bright expanse of the heavens,  *

and those who lead many to righteousness,  *

like the stars forever and ever.

31 because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed. He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead."  *

36 I tell you that on the day of judgment*people will have to account*for every careless*word they speak.*37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

The Sheep and the Goats

31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels*,*with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.*32 All the nations*,*will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.*33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on the left.

35 " ‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me.’*

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?38 When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you?39 When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you? ’

40 "And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’*

41 "Then he will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!*42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink; 43 I was a stranger and you didn’t take me in; I was naked and you didn’t clothe me, sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of me.’

44 "Then they too will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help you? ’

45 "Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’*

46 "And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."*

14 For God will bring every act to judgment,  * including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.

17 I said to myself, "God will judge the righteous and the wicked,  * since there is a time for every activity and every work."  *

30 "Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways."  * This is the declaration of the Lord God. "Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you. 31 Throw off all the transgressions you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.  * Why should you die, house of Israel? 32 For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death." This is the declaration of the Lord God. "So repent and live!

7 Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.*It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send him to you.*8 When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: 9 About sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father*and you will no longer see me; 11 and about judgment,*because the ruler of this world*has been judged.*

16 And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us.

God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him. 17 In this, love is made complete with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment,  * because as he is, so also are we in this world.  *18 There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear,  * because fear involves punishment.  * So the one who fears is not complete in love.  *

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat  * of Christ,  * so that each may be repaid  * for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once — and after this, judgment  *  —  28 so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,  * will appear a second time,  * not to bear sin, but  * to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.  *

37 For yet in a very little while,

the Coming One will come and not delay.

38 But my righteous one*will live by faith;

and if he draws back,

I have no pleasure*in him.*,*

39 But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and are saved.

6 So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled  * and put on the armor  * of faith and love, and a helmet  * of the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord  * Jesus Christ,  *

13 before the  Lord, for he is coming —

for he is coming to judge the earth.

He will judge the world with righteousness

and the peoples with his faithfulness.  *
