A Bíblia reconhece a necessidade de leis e governo civil. Os cristãos são chamados a obedecer às autoridades estabelecidas por Deus, enquanto mantêm a lealdade suprema a Cristo.
Submissão às autoridades
Toda autoridade é instituída por Deus. O cristão é chamado a respeitar as leis, pagar tributos e honrar quem governa.
So tell us, what do you think: is it lawful to pay tax to Caesar, or not?" But perceiving their malignancy Jesus said: "Hypocrites! Why do you test me? Show me the tax coin." So they brought Him a denarius. And He says to them, "Whose image and inscription is this?" They say to Him, "Caesar’s." Then He says to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s!"

Jesus cumpriu obrigações legais, pagou impostos e orientou seus seguidores a obedecer à lei sem comprometer a fé.
Money from a fish
When they entered Capernaum those who collected the temple tax approached Peter and said, "Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?" He says, "Yes." So when they entered the house Jesus anticipated him saying: "Simon, what do you think? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or poll tax, from their sons or from strangers?" Peter says to Him, "From the strangers." Jesus said to him: "Well then, the sons are free. But, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And opening its mouth you will find a ‘stater’ [a coin]; take that and give it to them for me and you."
Be agreeable to your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest the adversary hand you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. Assuredly I say to you, you will by no means get out of there until you have paid the last penny.
And you will be brought before governors and even kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the nations. But whenever they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you will speak, for it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak;
Now it happened in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole inhabited world should be enrolled. This first census took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So everyone was traveling, each to his own town, to enroll himself.
At night, in Bethlehem, the Savior is born
So Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of Natsareth town, into Judea to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because he was of David’s ‘house’, that is, line of descent, to enroll himself with Mary, the woman who had been betrothed to him, who was pregnant.
