Lei
God doesn’t accept people simply because they obey the Law. No, indeed! All the Law does is to point out our sin.
What does all this mean? Does it mean we are free to sin, because we are ruled by God’s gift of undeserved grace and not by the Law? Certainly not!
Some of you say, "We can do whatever we want to!" But I tell you not everything may be good or helpful.
All the Law says can be summed up in the command to love others as much as you love yourself.
God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.
You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.
Amar e obedecer
O maior mandamento é amar a Deus e ao próximo. Toda a lei se resume nestes dois mandamentos, que são o fundamento de tudo.
The second most important commandment says: ‘Love others as much as you love yourself.’ No other commandment is more important than these."
Now I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you.
Treat others as you want them to treat you. This is what the Law and the Prophets are all about.
Let love be your only debt! If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands.
The commandment that God has given us is: "Love God and love each other!"
Dear friends, if we feel at ease in the presence of God, we will have the courage to come near him. He will give us whatever we ask, because we obey him and do what pleases him.
Bênçãos da obediência à lei
Se andardes nos meus mandamentos, vivereis. A obediência à lei de Deus traz vida, paz e prosperidade espiritual.
Today I am giving you the laws and teachings of the Lord your God. Always obey them, and the Lord will make Israel the most famous and important nation on earth, and he will bless you in many ways.
I am commanding you to be loyal to the Lord, to live the way he has told you, and to obey his laws and teachings. You are about to cross the Jordan River and take the land that he is giving you. If you obey him, you will live and become successful and powerful.
On the other hand, you might choose to disobey the Lord and reject him. So I’m warning you that if you bow down and worship other gods, you won’t have long to live.
People of Israel, what does the Lord your God want from you? The Lord wants you to respect and follow him, to love and serve him with all your heart and soul, and to obey his laws and teachings that I am giving you today. Do this, and all will go well for you.
Memorize his laws and tell them to your children over and over again. Talk about them all the time, whether you’re at home or walking along the road or going to bed at night, or getting up in the morning.
Long ago I promised the ancestors of Israel that I would give this land to their descendants. So be strong and brave! Be careful to do everything my servant Moses taught you. Never stop reading The Book of the Law he gave you. Day and night you must think about what it says. If you obey it completely, you and Israel will be able to take this land.
Moses taught you to love the Lord your God, to be faithful to him, and to worship and obey him with your whole heart and with all your strength. So be very careful to do everything Moses commanded.
I worship you
with all my heart.
Don’t let me walk away
from your commands.
I am determined to be faithful
and to respect your laws.
The Lord is always kind
to those who worship him,
and he keeps his promises
to their descendants
who faithfully obey him.
Lei e graça
A lei veio para nos guiar; a graça veio para nos salvar. Em Cristo, cumprimos a lei pelo amor — o fruto do Espírito não tem lei contra si.
Parents, don’t be hard on your children. Raise them properly. Teach them and instruct them about the Lord.
The Lord God has told us
what is right
and what he demands:
"See that justice is done,
let mercy be your first concern,
and humbly obey your God."
But let justice and fairness
flow like a river
that never runs dry.
Stay away from people who are not followers of the Lord! Can someone who is good get along with someone who is evil? Are light and darkness the same?
