O propósito da lei
A lei de Deus revela o pecado e nos conduz a Cristo. Pela lei é que temos consciência do que é justo e do que é errado.
For no one is put right in God’s sight by doing what the Law requires; what the Law does is to make us know that we have sinned.
Slaves of Righteousness
What, then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law but under God’s grace? By no means!
"We are allowed to do anything," so they say. That is true, but not everything is good. "We are allowed to do anything"—but not everything is helpful.
For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."
But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.
Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ.
Amar e obedecer
O maior mandamento é amar a Deus e ao próximo. Toda a lei se resume nestes dois mandamentos, que são o fundamento de tudo.
The second most important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment more important than these two."
My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you.

Duties toward One Another
Be under obligation to no one—the only obligation you have is to love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law.
The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also.
And so, my dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have courage in God’s presence. We receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

The Blessings of Obedience
"If you obey the Lord your God and faithfully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth.
If you obey the commands of the Lord your God, which I give you today, if you love him, obey him, and keep all his laws, then you will prosper and become a nation of many people. The Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are about to occupy.
What God Demands
"Now, people of Israel, listen to what the Lord your God demands of you: Worship the Lord and do all that he commands. Love him, serve him with all your heart, and obey all his laws. I am giving them to you today for your benefit.
Never forget these commands that I am giving you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working.
Be sure that the book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Make sure you obey the law that Moses commanded you: love the Lord your God, do his will, obey his commandments, be faithful to him, and serve him with all your heart and soul."
With all my heart I try to serve you;
keep me from disobeying your commandments.
I have chosen to be obedient;
I have paid attention to your judgments.
But for those who honor the Lord, his love lasts forever,
and his goodness endures for all generations
of those who are true to his covenant
and who faithfully obey his commands.
Lei e graça
A lei veio para nos guiar; a graça veio para nos salvar. Em Cristo, cumprimos a lei pelo amor — o fruto do Espírito não tem lei contra si.
Parents, do not treat your children in such a way as to make them angry. Instead, raise them with Christian discipline and instruction.
No, the Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.
Instead, let justice flow like a stream, and righteousness like a river that never goes dry.
Warning against Pagan Influences
Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers, for it cannot be done. How can right and wrong be partners? How can light and darkness live together?
