O que é a lei de Deus e qual é o seu propósito
A lei na Bíblia é a revelação da vontade e do caráter de Deus, dada para orientar o relacionamento humano com o Criador e com o próximo. Seu papel não é salvar por esforço próprio, mas expor o pecado e apontar a necessidade da redenção em Cristo.
O apóstolo Paulo ensina que a lei atua como um padrão que torna o ser humano consciente de suas falhas. Em vez de anular a responsabilidade moral, a graça capacita o crente a viver os princípios justos da lei guiado pelo Espírito.
for this reason by works of law will no flesh be declared righteous before Him, for through law is a knowledge of sin.(Romans 3:20)
What then? Will we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Let it not be!(Romans 6:15)
All things are lawful to me, but not all things are profitable; all things are lawful to me, but not all things build up;(1 Corinthians 10:23)
for all the Law is fulfilled in one word—in this: "You will love your neighbor as yourself";(Galatians 5:14)
And the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, [and] self-control. Against such there is no law;(Galatians 5:22,23)
Bear the burdens of one another, and so fill up the law of the Christ,(Galatians 6:2)
O cumprimento da lei no amor
Jesus resumiu as exigências morais da Escritura em dois mandamentos fundamentais: amar a Deus sobre todas as coisas e amar o próximo como a si mesmo. O amor cumpre a lei porque quem age com misericórdia e justiça não comete dano contra ninguém.
and the second [is] like [it], this, You will love your neighbor as yourself—there is no other command greater than these."(Mark 12:31)
This is My command, that you love one another, according as I loved you;(John 15:12)
All things, therefore, whatever you may will that men may be doing to you, so also do to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.(Matthew 7:12)
To no one owe anything, except to love one another; for he who is loving the other—he has fulfilled law,(Romans 13:8)
And this [is] the command we have from Him, that he who is loving God, may also love his brother.(1 John 4:21)
Beloved, if our heart may not condemn us, we have boldness toward God, and whatever we may ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commands, and we do the things pleasing before Him,(1 John 3:21,22)
A instrução de Deus no Antigo Testamento
No hebraico bíblico, a palavra comumente traduzida por lei (Torah) significa instrução, ensino ou direção. Para o povo de Israel, os mandamentos não eram vistos apenas como restrições jurídicas, mas como um caminho de sabedoria, preservação da vida e aliança com o Senhor.
And these words which I am commanding you today have been on your heart, and you have repeated them to your sons, and spoken of them in your sitting in your house, and in your walking in the way, and in your lying down, and in your rising up,(Deuteronomy 6:6,7)
And now, O Israel, what is your God YHWH asking from you, except to fear your God YHWH, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve your God YHWH with all your heart and with all your soul, to keep the commands of YHWH, and His statutes which I am commanding you today, for good for you?(Deuteronomy 10:12,13)
"And it has been, if you listen diligently to the voice of your God YHWH, to observe to do all His commands which I am commanding you today, that your God YHWH has made you highest above all the nations of the earth,(Deuteronomy 28:1)
in that today I am commanding you to love your God YHWH, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments; and you have lived and multiplied, and your God YHWH has blessed you in the land to where you are going in to possess it.(Deuteronomy 30:16)

Only, be very watchful to do the command and the Law which Moses, servant of YHWH, commanded you, to love your God YHWH, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and to cleave to Him, and to serve Him, with all your heart, and with all your soul."(Joshua 22:5)
And the kindness of YHWH || [Is] from age even to age on those fearing Him, || And His righteousness to sons’ sons, To those keeping His covenant, || And to those remembering His precepts to do them.(Psalms 103:17,18)
I have sought You with all my heart, || Do not let me err from Your commands.(Psalms 119:10)
I have chosen the way of faithfulness, || I have compared Your judgments,(Psalms 119:30)
A exigência de justiça e integridade
A obediência aos mandamentos não se resume a práticas formais. Os profetas bíblicos advertiram que qualquer observância religiosa desprovida de integridade moral, socorro ao vulnerável e prática da justiça é rejeitada por Deus.
He has declared to you, O man, what [is] good; Indeed, what is YHWH requiring of you, || Except—to do judgment, and love kindness, || And to walk lowly with your God?(Micah 6:8)
And judgment rolls on as waters, || And righteousness as a perennial stream.(Amos 5:24)
Do not become yoked with others—unbelievers, for what partaking [is there] to righteousness and lawlessness?(2 Corinthians 6:14)
And the fathers: do not provoke your children, but nourish them in the instruction and admonition of the LORD.(Ephesians 6:4)
