8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may *be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will *achieve success.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet

And a light to my path.

130 The unfolding of Your words gives light;

It gives understanding to the simple.

97 How I love Your Law!

It is my meditation all the day.

98 Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies,

For they are ever *mine.

99 I have more insight than all my teachers,

For Your testimonies are my meditation.

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?

By keeping it according to Your word.

10 With all my heart I have sought You;

Do not let me wander from Your commandments.

11 I have treasured Your word in my heart,

So that I may not sin against You.

16 All Scripture is *inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for *rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man or woman of God may be *fully capable, equipped for every good work.

Testimony of the Scripture

39 *You examine the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is those very Scriptures that testify about Me;

4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

3 Blessed is the one who reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy and *keep the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

13 Until I come, give your attention to the public*reading, to exhortation, and teaching.

11 Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, *for they received the word with *great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

10 For Ezra had *firmly resolved to study the Law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.

8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, *translating to give the sense so that they understood the reading.

24 Jesus said to them, "Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not *understand the Scriptures nor the power of God?

6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. 8 You shall also tie them as a *sign to your *hand, and they shall be as *frontlets *on your forehead.

The Pursuit of Wisdom Brings Security

1 My son, if you will receive my words

And treasure my commandments within you,

2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom;

Incline your heart to understanding.

3 For if you cry out for insight,

And*raise your voice for understanding;

4 If you seek her as silver

And search for her as for hidden treasures;

5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,

And discover the knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord gives wisdom;

From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
