1. Praticar a hospitalidade
Stay on good terms with each other, held together by love. Be ready with a meal or a bed when it’s needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it! Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them. Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you. Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual and illicit sex.

2. Incentivar a comunhão
How wonderful, how beautiful,
when brothers and sisters get along!
It’s like costly anointing oil

It’s like the dew on Mount Hermon
flowing down the slopes of Zion.
Yes, that’s where God commands the blessing,
ordains eternal life.

3. Inspirar esperança para o novo ano
Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
"God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me"?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
Um líder cristão deve encorajar a congregação a confiar em Deus e olhar para o futuro com esperança.
4. Promover o perdão e a reconciliação
"Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity."
Antes do início de um novo ano, encorajar o perdão é essencial para que todos iniciem um novo ciclo sem mágoas.
5. Lembrar o verdadeiro significado do Natal
There were shepherds camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God’s angel stood among them and God’s glory blazed around them. They were terrified. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."
