Língua
A língua tem poder de vida e de morte. A Bíblia compara a língua ao leme de um navio e à faísca que incendeia uma floresta. Dominar a língua é prova de maturidade espiritual.
O poder da língua
A morte e a vida estão no poder da língua. Quem a domina é varão perfeito, capaz de controlar todo o corpo.
Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, || And those loving it eat its fruit.
for we all make many stumbles; if anyone does not stumble in word, this one [is] a perfect man, able to also bridle the whole body;
behold, the bits we put into the mouths of the horses for their obeying us, and we direct their whole body; behold, also the ships, being so great, and being driven by fierce winds, are directed by a very small rudder, wherever the impulse of the [one] steering wills, so also the tongue is a little member, and boasts greatly; behold, how much forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue [is] a fire, the world of the unrighteousness, so the tongue is set in our members, which is spotting our whole body, and is setting on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna.
For every nature, both of beasts and of birds, both of creeping things and things of the sea, is subdued, and has been subdued, by the human nature, but no one of men is able to subdue the tongue—[it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison;
with it we bless the God and Father, and with it we curse the men made according to [the] likeness of God; out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing; it does not need, my brothers, these things to so happen; does the fountain out of the same opening pour forth the sweet and the bitter? Is a fig tree able, my brothers, to make olives? Or a vine figs? Neither is salty [water able] to have made sweet water.

A língua branda quebra até ossos. A palavra certa no tempo certo é como maçãs de ouro em salvas de prata.
A ruler is persuaded by long-suffering, || And a soft tongue breaks a bone.
A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, || And the tongue of the wise is healing.
The lip of truth is established forever, || And a tongue of falsehood for a moment.
In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, || And whoever is restraining his lips [is] wise.
Even a fool keeping silence is reckoned wise, || He who is shutting his lips [seems] intelligent!
Disciplinar a fala
Quem guarda a boca e a língua guarda a sua alma de angústias. A religião sem controle da língua é vã.
If anyone thinks to be religious among you, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, the religion of this one [is] vain;
TO THE OVERSEER. FOR JEDUTHUN. A PSALM OF DAVID. I have said, "I observe my ways, || Against sinning with my tongue, || I keep a curb for my mouth, || While the wicked [is] before me."
Who [is] the man that is desiring life? Loving days to see good? Keep your tongue from evil, || And your lips from speaking deceit.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, || And his tongue speaks judgment. The law of his God [is] his heart, || His steps do not slide.
And my tongue utters Your righteousness, || All the day Your praise!
For there is not a word in my tongue, || Behold, O YHWH, You have known it all!
O YHWH, deliver my soul from a lying lip, || From a deceitful tongue!
YHWH cuts off all lips of flattery, || A tongue speaking great things, Who said, "By our tongue we do mightily: Our lips [are] our own; who [is] lord over us?"
Swallow up, O Lord, divide their tongue, || For I saw violence and strife in a city.
Toda língua confessará
Ao nome de Jesus todo joelho se dobrará e toda língua confessará que Jesus Cristo é Senhor, para glória de Deus Pai.
for this reason, also, God highly exalted Him, and gave to Him a Name that [is] above every name, that in the Name of Jesus every knee may bow—of heavenlies, and earthlies, and what are under the earth— and every tongue may confess that Jesus Christ [is] LORD, to the glory of God the Father.
If I speak with the tongues of men and of messengers, and do not have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal;
And I say to you that every idle word that men may speak, they will give for it a reckoning in [the] day of judgment; for from your words you will be declared righteous, and from your words you will be declared unrighteous."
And YHWH comes down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men have built; and YHWH says, "Behold, the people [is] one, and one language [is] to them all, and this it has dreamed of doing; and now, nothing is restrained from them of that which they have purposed to do. Give help, let us go down there and confuse their language, so that a man will not understand the language of his companion." And YHWH scatters them from there over the face of all the earth, and they cease to build the city; therefore [one] has called its name Babel, for there YHWH has confused the language of all the earth, and from there YHWH has scattered them over the face of all the earth.
