Na Bíblia, a luz representa a verdade divina, a santidade e a salvação, enquanto as trevas simbolizam o pecado, o engano e a morte espiritual.

Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I AM the light of the world; he who is following Me will not walk in the darkness, but he will have the light of life."(John 8:12)

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men, and the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not perceive it.(John 1:4,5)

when I am in the world, I AM [the] light of the world."(John 9:5)

I—light to the world—have come, that everyone who is believing in Me may not remain in the darkness;(John 12:46)

And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil; for everyone who is doing wicked things hates the light, and does not come into the light, that his works may not be detected; but he who is doing the truth comes into the light, that his works may be revealed, that in God they are having been worked."(John 3:19-21)

And this is the message that we have heard from Him, and announce to you, that God is light, and darkness is not in Him at all;(1 John 1:5)

and if we may walk in the light, as He is in the light—we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of His Son Jesus Christ cleanses us from every sin;(1 John 1:7)

Every good giving, and every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation, or shadow of turning;(James 1:17)

You are the light of the world, a city set on a mountain is not able to be hid; nor do they light a lamp and put it under the measure, but on the lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house; so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father who [is] in the heavens.(Matthew 5:14-16)

The people that is sitting in darkness saw a great light, and to those sitting in a region and shadow of death—light arose to them."(Matthew 4:16)

But you [are] a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that you may show forth the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light,(1 Peter 2:9)

you are all sons of light, and sons of day; we are not of night, nor of darkness,(1 Thessalonians 5:5)

[NUN] Your word [is] a lamp to my foot, || And a light to my path.(Psalms 119:105)

Cause Your face to shine on Your servant, || Save me in Your kindness.(Psalms 31:16)

in whom the god of this age blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that there does not shine forth to them the enlightening of the good news of the glory of the Christ, who is the image of God; for we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus—LORD, and [we are] ourselves your servants because of Jesus; because [it is] God who said, "Light will shine out of darkness," who shined in our hearts, for the enlightening of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.(2 Corinthians 4:4-6)

Do not become yoked with others—unbelievers, for what partaking [is there] to righteousness and lawlessness?(2 Corinthians 6:14)

the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, for your knowing what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the holy ones,(Ephesians 1:18)

The people who are walking in darkness || Have seen a great light, || Dwellers in a land of death-shade, || Light has shone on them.(Isaiah 9:2)

Arise, shine, for your light has come, || And the glory of YHWH has risen on you. For behold, the darkness covers the earth, || And thick darkness the peoples, || And YHWH rises on you, || And His glory is seen on you. And nations have come to your light, || And kings to the brightness of your rising.(Isaiah 60:1-3)

"Attend to Me, O My people, || And, O My nation, give ear to Me. For a law goes out from Me, || And My judgment to the light, || I cause peoples to rest.(Isaiah 51:4)

O testemunho cristão e a esperança final

YHWH bless you and keep you; YHWH cause His face to shine on you, || And favor you; YHWH lift up His countenance on you, || And appoint for you—peace.(Numbers 6:24-26)

He is revealing deep and hidden things; He has known what [is] in darkness, and light has dwelt with Him.(Daniel 2:22)

for so the LORD has commanded us: I have set you for a light of nations—for your being for salvation to the end of the earth."(Acts 13:47)

Having obtained, therefore, help from God, until this day, I have stood witnessing both to small and to great, saying nothing besides the things that both the prophets and Moses spoke of as about to come, that the Christ is to suffer, whether first by a resurrection from the dead, He is about to proclaim light to the people and to the nations."(Acts 26:22,23)

And no one having lighted a lamp covers it with a vessel, or puts [it] under a bed; but he puts [it] on a lampstand, that those coming in may see the light,(Luke 8:16)

The lamp of the body is the eye, when then your eye may be simple, your whole body is also lightened; and when it may be evil, your body is also darkened;(Luke 11:34)

because whatever you said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you spoke to the ear in the inner-chambers will be proclaimed on the housetops.(Luke 12:3)

And the city has no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they may shine in it; for the glory of God lightens it, and the lamp of it—the Lamb;(Revelation 21:23)

and there will be no night there, and they have no need of [the] light of a lamp and of [the] light of [the] sun, because the LORD God gives them light, and they will reign through the ages of the ages.(Revelation 22:5)
