Marido e mulher
O casamento é aliança sagrada entre marido e mulher, instituída por Deus desde o Éden. A Bíblia define papéis complementares fundados em amor, respeito e fidelidade mútua.
Instituição divina
Deus criou homem e mulher e os uniu em uma só carne. O casamento é projeto divino que reflete o amor de Cristo pela Igreja.
So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate."
But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And why the one? He was seeking a godly offspring. Be careful then about your spirit, and see that none of you deals treacherously against the wife of your youth.
Papéis no casamento
O marido ama e a mulher respeita. Ambos se submetem voluntariamente a Deus e um ao outro, em parceria e unidade.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
Marriage like Christ and the Church
Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
Family Relations
Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not become bitter against them.
Godly Living
In the same way, you wives, be subject to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your pure and respectful behavior.
You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
Fidelidade e união
O casamento é honroso e deve ser preservado com fidelidade. O cordão de três dobras não se rompe facilmente.
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor; for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up! Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.
Description of a Worthy Woman
An excellent wife, who can find her?
For her worth is far above jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
He who finds a wife finds a good thing
And obtains favor from the Lord.
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers,
But a prudent wife is from the Lord.
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones.
Let your fountain be blessed,
And rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Like a loving doe and a graceful mountain goat,
Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
Be exhilarated always with her love.

Teaching on Marriage
Now concerning the things about which you wrote, it is good for a man not to touch a woman. But because of sexual immoralities, each man is to have his own wife, and each woman is to have her own husband. The husband must fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise the wife also to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise the husband also does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife is not to leave her husband (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband is not to divorce his wife.
Yet if the unbelieving one is leaving, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace. For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
For the married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he is alive; but if her husband dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband.
"When a man takes a new wife, he is not to go out with the army, nor be assigned any duty; he shall be free at home for one year and shall make his wife whom he has taken happy.
