A Bíblia define o papel do marido com clareza: amar a esposa como Cristo amou a Igreja, ser fiel, protetor e líder servo no lar.
Amar como Cristo amou
Maridos, amai vossas mulheres como Cristo amou a Igreja e se entregou por ela. O amor do marido deve ser sacrificial e incondicional.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
In the same way husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Nevertheless, each man among you must love his own wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give any opportunity to the devil. He who steals must no longer steal; rather he must labor, doing honest work with his hands, so that he may have something to contribute to anyone in need. Let no foul word come out of your mouth, but only what is good for edification, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, outbursts, and slander, together with all malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ has forgiven us.
Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them.
Above all, put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Fidelidade conjugal
O casamento é honroso e o leito conjugal é santo. O marido deve ser fiel à esposa da sua juventude em pensamento e ação.
Marriage must be held in honor by all, and the marriage bed must be kept pure, but God will judge fornicators and adulterers.
But I say to you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, apart from a matter of fornication, makes her commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
So then, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."
The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
Do not deprive one another, except by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to fasting and prayer and then come together again so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
Now to the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband (but if she does separate, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and a husband must not divorce his wife.
Now to the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she consents to dwell with him, he must not divorce her.
Flee fornication. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but he who commits fornication sins against his own body.
Convivência com sabedoria
O marido sábio vive com a esposa com entendimento, dando-lhe honra como co-herdeira da graça. A união conjugal reflete Cristo e a Igreja.
Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker partner, since they are heirs with you of 24 ¦ a living grace 𝔐30the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility regard others as more important than yourselves. None of you should look out for your own interests, but for the interests of others.
Make sure no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always strive to do good to each other and to everyone else.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? What fellowship does light have with darkness?
Love is patient and kind. Love does not envy or boast. It is not puffed up or rude. It does not seek its own way, it is not irritable, and it keeps no record of wrongs. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
