55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" [Hos 13:14] 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin [by which it brings death] is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory [as conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.

26 The last enemy to be abolished and put to an end is death.

28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

25 For whoever wishes to save his life [in this world] will [eventually] lose it [through death], but whoever loses his life [in this world] for My sake will find it [that is, life with Me for all eternity].

23 But I am hard-pressed between the two. I have the desire to leave [this world] and be with Christ, for that is far, far better; 24 yet to remain in my body is more necessary and essential for your sake.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 A good name is better than precious perfume,

And the day of one’s death better than the day of one’s birth.

2 He enters into peace [through death];

They rest in their beds (graves),

Each one who walked uprightly [following God’s will, living with integrity].

Can he rescue his soul from the [powerful] hand of Sheol (the nether world, the place of the dead)? Selah.

7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

Its flashes are flashes of fire,

14 "Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God has promised concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.

32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," says the Lord God. "Therefore, repent and live!"

46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit!" Having said this, He breathed His last. [Ps 31:5]

23 In Hades (the realm of the dead), being in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom (paradise).24 And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in severe agony in this flame.’

15 Then when the illicit desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin has run its course, it gives birth to death.
