13 I can do all things *through Him who strengthens me.

29 He gives strength to the weary,

And to the one who lacks might He increases power.

30 Though youths grow weary and tired,

And vigorous young men stumble badly,

31 Yet those who *wait for the Lord

Will gain new strength;

They will *mount up with wings like eagles,

They will run and not get tired,

They will walk and not become weary.

10 I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,

My soul will be joyful in my God;

For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,

He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,

As a groom puts on a turban,

And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to *desire and to work for His good pleasure.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not regard myself as having taken hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. So they do it to obtain a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such a way as not to run aimlessly; I box in such a way, as *to avoid hitting air; 27 but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

Jesus, the Example

1 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking only at Jesus, the *originator and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary *and lose heart.

23 Whatever you do, do your work *heartily, as for the Lord and not for people,

11 For I know the plans that I *have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for *prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

13 And whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

19 *Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,20 teaching them to *follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you *always, to the end of the age."

6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or in dread of them, for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you. He will not desert you or abandon you."

Whatever Your Hand Finds to Do

10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no activity, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

7 A thousand may fall at your side

And ten thousand at your right hand,

But it shall not approach you.

29 And do not *seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.30 For *all these things are what the nations of the world *eagerly seek; and your Father knows that you need these things.

10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 11 For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. 12 Now we command and exhort such persons in the Lord Jesus Christ to work *peacefully and eat their own bread. 13 But as for you, brothers and sisters, do not grow weary of doing good.
