A Bíblia celebra a mulher como obra-prima da criação divina. Ela é elogiada por sua sabedoria, força, beleza interior e papel fundamental na família e na sociedade.
A mulher na criação
Deus criou o homem e a mulher à sua imagem. A mulher foi formada como ajudadora idônea — parceira de igual dignidade e valor.
So God created humankind in his image, in the likeness of God he created him, male and female he created them.
And Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man. While he slept, he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh where it had been.And Yahweh God fashioned the rib which he had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man.And the man said,
"She is now bone from my bones
and flesh from my flesh;
she shall be called ‘Woman,’
for she was taken from man."
Virtude e caráter
A beleza é vã e a formosura passageira, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor é digna de louvor. Seu caráter é seu maior tesouro.
Charm is deceit and beauty is vain;
but a woman who fears Yahweh shall be praised.
The wisest of women builds her house,
but the foolish tears it down with her hands.
A woman of strength is the crown of her master,
but like rot in his bones is she who brings shame.
A woman of grace receives honor,
but the ruthless gets wealth.
A house and wealth are an inheritance from fathers,
but from Yahweh comes a woman who is prudent.
Better to live in a land of wilderness
than with a wife of quarrels and provocation.
And so then my daughter, do not be afraid. All that you ask I will do for you, for the entire assembly of my people knows that you are a worthy woman.
Sabedoria e serviço
As mulheres da Bíblia foram líderes, profetisas e discípulas fiéis. Jesus honrou as mulheres e as incluiu em seu ministério.
And it happened that afterward also he was going about from one town and village to another preaching and proclaiming the good news concerning the kingdom of God, and the twelve were with him, and some women who had been healed of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (who was called Magdalene), from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna the wife of Chuza (Herod’s household manager), and Susanna, and many others who were helping to support them from their possessions.
In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some are disobedient to the word, they may be won over without a word by the conduct of their wives,
Husbands, in the same way live with your wives knowledgeably, as with the weaker female vessel, showing them honor as fellow heirs also of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.
The wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderous, temperate, faithful in all things.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderous, not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, in order that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, busy at home, good, being subject to their own husbands, in order that the word of God may not be slandered.
