A Bíblia celebra a mulher como obra-prima da criação divina. Ela é elogiada por sua sabedoria, força, beleza interior e papel fundamental na família e na sociedade.
A mulher na criação
Deus criou o homem e a mulher à sua imagem. A mulher foi formada como ajudadora idônea — parceira de igual dignidade e valor.
And God creates the man in His image; in the image of God He created him, a male and a female He created them.
And YHWH God causes a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he sleeps, and He takes one of his ribs, and closes up flesh in its stead. And YHWH God builds up the rib which He has taken out of the man into a woman, and brings her to the man; and the man says, "This at last! Bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!" For this is called Woman, for this has been taken from Man;
Virtude e caráter
A beleza é vã e a formosura passageira, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor é digna de louvor. Seu caráter é seu maior tesouro.
Favor [is] deceitful, and beauty [is] vain, || A woman fearing YHWH, she may boast herself.
Every wise woman has built her house, || And the foolish breaks it down with her hands.
A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband, || And as rottenness in his bones [is] one causing shame.
A gracious woman retains honor, || And terrible [men] retain riches.
House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, || And an understanding wife [is] from YHWH.
Better to dwell in a wilderness land, || Than [with] a woman of contentions and anger.
And now, my daughter, do not fear, all that you say I do to you, for all the gate of my people knows that you [are] a virtuous woman.
Sabedoria e serviço
As mulheres da Bíblia foram líderes, profetisas e discípulas fiéis. Jesus honrou as mulheres e as incluiu em seu ministério.
And it came to pass thereafter, that He was going through every city and village, preaching and proclaiming good news of the Kingdom of God, and the Twelve [are] with Him, and certain women who were healed of evil spirits and sicknesses, Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone forth, and Joanna wife of Chuza, steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to Him from their substance.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands in like manner, that even if some are disobedient to the word, they may be won through the behavior of the wives without the word,
Husbands, in like manner, dwelling with [them], according to knowledge, as to a weaker vessel—to the wife—imparting honor, as also being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers are not hindered.
Women, in like manner, dignified, not false accusers, vigilant, faithful in all things.
Aged women, in like manner, in behavior as becomes sacred persons, not false accusers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of good things, that they may make the young women sober-minded, to be lovers of [their] husbands, lovers of [their] children, sober, pure, keepers of [their own] houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that evil may not be spoken of the word of God.
