O namoro cristão deve ser vivido com sabedoria, pureza e propósito. A Bíblia orienta sobre escolher um cônjuge, guardar o coração e honrar a Deus em todo relacionamento.
Guardar o coração
Sobre tudo o que se deve guardar, guarda o teu coração, porque dele procedem as fontes da vida. O namoro exige vigilância e sabedoria.
23 And keep watch over your heart with all care; so you will have life.
14 Do not keep company with those who have not faith: for what is there in common between righteousness and evil, or between light and dark?15 And what agreement is there between Christ and the Evil One? or what part has one who has faith with one who has not?
3 Is it possible for two to go walking together, if not by agreement?
33 Do not be tricked by false words: evil company does damage to good behaviour.
Pureza e santidade
O corpo é templo do Espírito Santo. A Bíblia nos chama a fugir da imoralidade e esperar no amor com paciência e respeito mútuo.
18 Keep away from the desires of the flesh. Every sin which a man does is outside of the body; but he who goes after the desires of the flesh does evil to his body.19 Or are you not conscious that your body is a house for the Holy Spirit which is in you, and which has been given to you by God? and you are not the owners of yourselves;20 For a payment has been made for you: let God be honoured in your body.
13 Food is for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will put an end to them together. But the body is not for the desires of the flesh, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body:
9 But if they have not self-control let them get married; for married life is better than the burning of desire.
4 I say to you, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not let love be moved till it is ready.
4 Let married life be honoured among all of you and not made unclean; for men untrue in married life will be judged by God.
A esposa prudente vem do Senhor
Deus criou o homem e a mulher para completarem-se. A casa e os bens são herança dos pais, mas a esposa prudente vem do Senhor.
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good for the man to be by himself: I will make one like himself as a help to him
14 House and wealth are a heritage from fathers, but a wife with good sense is from the Lord.
14 And more than all, have love; the only way in which you may be completely joined together.
