Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?" 5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born *of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 *That which is born of the flesh is *flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.*7 *Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You*must be born *again.’8 *The wind*blows *where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born *of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 *That which is born of the flesh is *flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.*7 *Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You*must be born *again.’

15 *Truly, I say to you, whoever does not *receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."

Who Is the Greatest?

1 *At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you *turn and *become like children, you *will never enter the kingdom of heaven.4 *Whoever humbles himself like this child is the *greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

17 Therefore, if anyone is *in Christ, he is *a new creation.**The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

4 We were *buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as *Christ was raised from the dead by *the glory of the Father, we too might walk in *newness of life.

5 For *if we have been united with him in *a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that *our old self**was crucified with him in order that *the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For *one who has died *has been set free* from sin.

4 We were *buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as *Christ was raised from the dead by *the glory of the Father, we too might walk in *newness of life.

11 So you also must consider yourselves *dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

20 I have been *crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives *in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, *who loved me and *gave himself for me.

22 to *put off *your old self,* which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through *deceitful desires, 23 and *to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on *the new self, *created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

9 *Do not lie to one another, seeing that *you have put off *the old self* with its practices 10 and *have put on *the new self, *which is being renewed in knowledge *after the image of *its creator. 11 *Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave,* free; but Christ is *all, and in all.

12 But to all who did receive him, *who believed in his name, *he gave the right *to become *children of God, 13 who *were born, *not of blood *nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Born Again to a Living Hope

3 *Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! *According to his great mercy, *he has caused us to be born again to a living hope *through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to *an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and *unfading, *kept in heaven for you,

23 *since you have been born again, *not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through *the living and abiding word of God;

2 *Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual *milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— 3 if indeed you have *tasted that the Lord is good.

1 See *what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called *children of God; and so we are. The reason why *the world does not know us is that *it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are *God’s children *now, and what we will be *has not yet appeared; but we know that *when he appears**we shall be like him, because *we shall see him as he is.

4 But *when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, *born *of woman, born *under the law, 5 *to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive *adoption as sons.

19 *And I will give them one heart, and *a new spirit I will put within them. *I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh *and give them a heart of flesh, 20 *that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. *And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

4 But* God, being *rich in mercy, *because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even *when we were dead in our trespasses, *made us alive together with Christ—*by grace you have been saved—
