O nascimento do Salvador
O anjo anunciou: hoje vos nasceu um Salvador, que é Cristo, o Senhor! A virgem concebeu pelo Espírito Santo e deu à luz o Filho de Deus.
The angel said to them: "Do not be afraid because listen, I am announcing the most joyful news to you, which will be to all the people!
You see, today, in David's city, a Savior was born to you, who is Lord Christ!
So Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of Natsareth town, into Judea to the city of David, that is called Bethlehem, because he was of David's ‘house’, that is, line of descent, to enroll himself with Mary, the woman who had been betrothed to him, who was pregnant.
So it happened that when they got there the days for her to give birth were completed; and she gave birth to her firstborn Son, wrapped Him in pieces of cloth and laid Him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the lodging place.
A profecia cumprida
Isaías profetizou: a virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho que se chamará Emanuel. Em Jesus, essa promessa se cumpriu perfeitamente.
But while he pondered these things, wow, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife, because that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
And she will give birth to a Son and you will call His name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins."
Now all this happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet should be fulfilled, namely: "Behold, the virgin will become pregnant and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel", which being translated is, ‘God with us’.
Glória a Deus nas alturas
Os pastores glorificaram a Deus e os anjos cantaram: 'Glória a Deus nas alturas e paz na terra entre os homens a quem Ele quer bem!'
"Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace, good will toward mankind!"
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God over all that they had heard and seen, just as it was told them.
