O nascimento do Salvador
O anjo anunciou: hoje vos nasceu um Salvador, que é Cristo, o Senhor! A virgem concebeu pelo Espírito Santo e deu à luz o Filho de Deus.
And the messenger said to them, "Do not fear, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be to all the people,
because today in the city of David a Savior was born to you, who is Christ the LORD!
and Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, that is called Beth-Lehem, because of his being of the house and family of David, to register himself with Mary his betrothed wife, being with Child.
And it came to pass, in their being there, the days were fulfilled for her bringing forth, and she brought forth her Son—the firstborn, and wrapped Him up, and laid Him down in the manger, because there was not a place for them in the guest-chamber.
A profecia cumprida
Isaías profetizou: a virgem conceberá e dará à luz um filho que se chamará Emanuel. Em Jesus, essa promessa se cumpriu perfeitamente.
Therefore the Lord Himself gives a sign to you, || Behold, the virgin is conceiving, || And is bringing forth a Son, || And has called His Name Immanuel,
And on his thinking of these things, behold, a messenger of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, you may not fear to receive your wife Mary, for that which was begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit,
and she will bring forth a Son, and you will call His Name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
And all this has come to pass, that it may be fulfilled that was spoken by the LORD through the prophet, saying, "Behold, the virgin will conceive, and she will bring forth a Son, and they will call His Name Emmanuel," which is, being interpreted, "God with us."
Glória a Deus nas alturas
Os pastores glorificaram a Deus e os anjos cantaram: 'Glória a Deus nas alturas e paz na terra entre os homens a quem Ele quer bem!'
"Glory in the highest to God, and on earth peace, among men—good will!"
and the shepherds turned back, glorifying and praising God for all those things they heard and saw, as it was spoken to them.
