Jesus answered, "As Scripture says, ‘Human beings do not live by only eating bread, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."
"It is written in Scripture, ‘You shall not live on bread alone,’" Jesus answered.
He humbled you, and when you were hungry he gave you manna to eat, which nobody, including you and your forefathers, had ever had before. This was in order to make it clear to you that human beings do not live by only eating bread, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Jesus, o pão vivo
Jesus é o pão da vida que desceu do céu. Quem come deste pão viverá para sempre. Ele é o sustento que satisfaz a fome da alma.
"I am the bread of life," Jesus replied. "Anyone who comes to me will never be hungry again, and anyone who trusts in me will never be thirsty again.
I am the bread of life.
I am the life-giving bread from heaven, and anyone who eats this bread will live forever. The bread is my flesh that I give so that the world may live."
Just as the life-giving Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. Now this is the bread that came down from heaven, not the kind your forefathers ate and still died. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever."
Buscar o Reino acima de tudo
Não andeis ansiosos pelo que comer ou beber. Buscai primeiro o Reino de Deus, e todas estas coisas vos serão acrescentadas.
That’s why I’m telling you not to worry about your life. Don’t worry about what to eat, or what to drink, or what clothes to put on. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Don’t be concerned about what you’re going to eat or drink—don’t worry about it. These are all things that people in the world worry about, but your Father knows you need them. Search for God’s kingdom, and you’ll be given these things as well.
Meanwhile Jesus' disciples were urging him, "Rabbi, please eat something!"
But Jesus replied, "I have food to eat that you know nothing about."
"Did someone bring him food?" the disciples asked one another.
Jesus told them, "My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work.
Even though there are no blossoms on the fig trees and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no harvest; even though there are no animals in the pen and no cattle in the stalls;
still I will be happy in the Lord, joyful in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength. He makes me able to walk in the highest mountains, as sure-footed as a deer.
